Yes you need a TV license
So from what I can see this is probably the best deal with a box which works out to be ~£5 per month as opposed to the £12.50 deal for 2 months with a box @ ~ £6.25 per month. The other one noted above was £15 for 3 months with no box so £5 per month but you don't have a box to sell if you are that way inclined.
I got the 6 month deal for £19.99 about 6 months ago. Do they still sell boxes with 6 month passes that are likely to be on offer?
