Nukeproof Horizon Carbon Riser BarThe Nukeproof Horizon Carbon Riser Bar was developed to be lightweight and comfortable, while far exceeding the strength and durability of an aluminium bar. In fact, the Horizon carbon bar far exceeds the strength of many leading carbon bar competitors in laboratory testing, withstanding loads of over 700kg.

High Strength and DampingThis strength is due to the Nukeproof proprietary carbon layup and the addition of a unique layer of glass fibre for additional damping and reinforcement. Safety was the primary objective, in addition to providing the great ride quality only a high-end carbon bar can. Further safety is provided by the no-slip particle paint applied to the controls and stem mounting areas. Nukeproof are so confident in their Horizon carbon bar that they back it up with a lifetime warranty!

Features:
  • Material: Carbon
  • Backsweep:
  • Upsweep:
  • Use: Trail, All Mountain, Enduro, Downhill, Freeride
  • Weight: 260g (800mm x 35mm rise)

How did they 'break'? Metal bends, carbon snaps!

Huh, these could be useful for me. I've got a hybrid where the handlebars feel slightly too low despite being at maximum height. I thought I'd have to get an angled stem but if I can get these, they fit and they knock off some road vibration while commuting that'd be great! They are crazily wide though, my current ones are about 60cm wide and that feels too big, 78cm is just mad.

They have marks to cut down on both sides, bars have got a lot wider in recent years , I’m currently running 730 and 760 I’ve really got to think about gates and posts when riding now

Aluminium is quite stiff and brittle, it will bend but is also prone to snapping.

Aluminium fatigues.
Make sure you install these with a torque wrench and the correct settings. Carbon’s great but it can be finicky and you don’t want to ruin the bar while you’re fitting it.
I've had three aluminium frames snap!
