I'm sure the ingedients in these wouldn't be patented so there will be generics for way less?

The generic would be called Ibuprofen. I don't think you can buy ibuprofen for very much less than 47 pence.

good for you im just posting a deal as these are cheapest i have seen this brand for

pothead13, I think you are being needlessly aggressive, time to have a spliff maybe? In summing up your thread, yes, that's a good price for a rip-off brand name like Nurofen but what I and indeed other more enlightened posters have been trying to get across to you is the fact that the active ingredients in Nurofen is EXACTLY the same as any own brand (i.e. generic) ibuprofen pack of tablets. Nurofen has got purdy packaging, though.

But why would you "like this brand"??? Generic ibuprofen is exactly the same thing as Nurofen; there's absolutely no reason to splash out on the brand name version when it's more expensive, even with this deal.

Odd as this may sound - and please no-one have a go at me!! AS a migraine sufferer - if I take say "tesco's" version theres no chance of it making a dent - whereas nurofen helps a little.

Nah - my Dr agrees with me. Remember - I suffer my own migraines -you dont/wont suffer the same.

Disagree with me all you will - but i always use cheap branded stuff overwise - so for me this would work out an amazing deal.

I found the 400mg (per capsule) Ibuprofen a lot better than Nurofen which I think was 200mg (per capsule)

dcx_badass

Yay now i can overdose cheaply aswell!

You don't want to be found dead overdosed on cheap Tesco Value Ibruprofen.

Go out in style, Nurofen it.

I think this is a fantastic deal. Thanks for the post. My daughter suffers really bad with cramps and this does wonders for her. When she gets painkillers prescribed from the doc, he will prescribe own brand paracetomal but nurofen for the ibruprofen. I am always on the look out for reasonably priced nurofen. Does anyone know if there is a limit on the amount you can buy at anyone time

When you get a migrane next give someone a cheap painkiller and a branded painkiller and then ask them to mix em up and give you either one without telling you which. You will probably be surprised by the results.

What utter tosh gets muttered on this forum at times, with this argument of own brand against a top brand name like Nurofen I am half expecting half of you to come up with the same argument the next time somebody brings up a good deal on Coca-Cola or similar ... I can get Tesco's own Brand Coke for quarter the price and I have checked the label to see the ingredients are the same .... erm rightyho.
FWIW if anybody can find Nurofen cheaper please point us in the direction of the cheaper product and if not give the OP a break maybe or nobody except the regulars will RISK posting what they thought was a decent deal.
Thanks OP!!

Tescos do 16 for 79p which is a better deal.

Been there done that and the nurofen actually works better for me. Not saying it works better for everyone - but my body can tell!!

Trust me guys there is no difference between Neurofen and Ibuprofen.
The main ingradient is Ibuprofen, which is a NSAID( Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug).
If I were you, I will go for the cheapest.

Nurofen works for me...

Thanks

The cocal-cola argument is a bad one, as it has many different ingredients. It's an irrefutable fact that Nurofen contains 200mg of Ibuprofen and nothing else, same as the cheaper 'generic' brands. How could it be different?

I think its 2 boxes at a time.

It does vary though, Because the Ibruprofen I was taking was 400mg and 16 tablets per box.

Nurofen has a sugar "easy swallow" coating, generic tablets do not so for not much more than your generic sh*t this is a good deal.

Chalk?? Apparently the reason why Nurofen are so much more expensive is because they are sugar coated so much easier to swallow  . I'm suddenly converted. 6p a tablet instead of 2p for me from now on. :-D But what if I get hooked on them and then they go back up to a quid? lol.

Any generic Ibuprofen I've ever had are sugar coated - I've always wondered why that's the case when paracetamol doesn't have such a coating.

John

I have to say, this is a good deal imo.

Personally, (hayfever terms) I find that Benydryl Plus, the most expensive does a noticeably, way better job with me, than supermarket, and other brands.

Same with this I'd imagine,

The reason they are so expensive is so that they can make back the money spent on research, efficay studies, clinical trials etc. Large drug companies spends tens of millions of pounds bringing a drug to the consumer and this cost needs to be recouped while their patent is still in place. Once the patent expires generic manurfacturers produce the drugs but with no research/developement costs to cover they are able to sell them cheaper.

Once again good deal. Some people feel safer buying a known brand. The majority of condoms are all made of rubber, yet most people will buy durex or mates because they know them to be a quality brand. Perceived value is worth a lot in any business.

Because ibuprofen tastes like ****

Hey if anyone knows someone who is going to Florida or I suppose the USA at all, the Walmarts over there charge under £4.00 for a tub of 500!!!!!

I walked through the supermarket checkout with 3 tubs and not a word said. When I came back I gave away my other 2 tubs so I am getting a friend to get me more late in the year when they go.
