Found 16th Jun 2014
I have found this course on wowcher for £9 at e-careers and buying nus card at £12 totals £21 for everyone. I tried this few months ago and would recommend it. I am enjoying the course which is double bonus.

This is my first deal so be kind.

Dont get what deal is?

This is standard you go on a pretend course to register as a student for the discount card. The price hasn't dropped cold but it's a way around the system. I remember seeing this on MSE

Why not just get the course for £9?

Thanks barmybulldog.

When you apply for an nus card dont they normally send it to the college/university you are suppose to be studying at or is it different with being an online course

It's not "a way around the system", rather someone is being helpful and informing us that we are eligible to apply for a NUS discount card if we take out such a course, simple:)

When I applied, online, they posted it to my home address. I actually to a FE college.

Or back to the point this has been used to get around the system, which 100% of the people who apply for these courses will be doing. You find a cheap course cough up for the card and recoup your losses. The price of the card doesn't change and there is always a multitude of 'courses' at this price regardless of day/hour or time machine

Very much doubt an NUS is required for a print me off course certificate

This is interesting! Never seen it before - not sure how often the NUS discount would be used to make it worthwhile, a lot of the places they have always have vouchers - adding heat as intrigued though. How long does the NUS card last (its been a while since I had one!)

BarmyBullDog - Its more you can get a NUS card for doing the £9 course!

Lets not sugar coat it, we all know its paying £9 for a course no-one will be using so they can be a pretend student for discount.

Don't you need an NUS Extra card for most discounts anyway? My uni library card is also an NUS card, but I also have a separate NUS Extra card that I paid extra for that I use for discounts.

It expires yearly so it would be this cost every year, if you weigh that up against your perceived discount

Spotify premium at half price! (assuming the NUS card you guys are talking about is the NUS extra card)

Cold. You can just put any University in the NUS form and it will still let you take out an NUS extra card. They don't check it anyway..

useless
i hardly even used mine

Can you this NUS card to buy apple products?

It's a really good question ? How about the Railcard ?

I could find this one but I have no idea how it works, as far as Apple education used to work with university IP addresses.

My daughter is just finishing her GCSEs. I got her a Spotify Premium account for £4.99 a month via MyUniDays.com who accept applications some schools. hotukdeals.com/dea…166 has more
The MyUniDays account is free and gives various other "student" discounts like the ones on MacBooks

10% off shopping at the co op so could soon get your money back after a few shops

Any one know what places nus discount is valid?
Just filled out the form
Dont need the course
WIN!

me t9ooooooooo

NUS is overrated IMO, lots of places will accept a Uni?college card and the discounts aernt't all that great, can get better discounts through work.

open university online are.part.of the national union of.students and they allow you to have an.nus card. you have to put how long your.course is going.to.be plus your.course number and if.your not.found to.be.an.active.member they will terminate.your card. other than that it's a really useful thing to have.xxx

It's wrong isn't it?
The idea I think of a student discount is that the 'real' student is studying full time. Ok, they can have a small part-time job to supplement their income. So some companies/businesses offer them a discount.
I think anyone who is genuinely studying full time should be able to get such a discount. If they have a low/no income and are struggling.
Those with full time jobs are abusing the system, to put it politely.
My two cents.

Money off Virgin experience days, airport parking, Chessington & trips to South Africa. I dont think NUS. Extra is really aimed at those on the breadline

OP, did you buy this exact course and get the NUS card? There is no mention of the card on the terms. Was it an extra NUS card? Thanks

I don't know that the aim of the NUS card is, but the offers on clothes and food or books, computer equipment, ms software for example should only be available to genuine students. And age should not relevant, just low/no income. Just full time study.

What about amaZon student/prime can this be used for that?

good deal

10% Discount every time you shop at the Co-op. Soon pays for itself!

This is just a copy of the deal posted 2 months ago.

NUS Extra Card Deal

What do you put in for the place of study. It doesn't accept e-careers.

could be useful for reduced price swimming, gym, cinema etc
