You can register online for a course then you qualify for a nus card. Its somewhere on hukd already posted.
It's always been £12.
Once you get hold of the NUS Extra card, you can also get Amazon Prime Student for £39
I am confused, isn't it the normal price?
The card is great and you can easily get your money back through 50% Spotify, cinema tickets, etc..
These have been £12 for as long as I can remember.
Where is deal?

You can get Amazon Prime without this anyway. All you need is a .ac.uk email.

But how do you get an ac.uk address without being a student?

But you can get an ac.uk address and be a student and get Amazon Prime student- all without payin the £12 fee

More importantly, I have an ac.uk address and am a full-time student - but I can't get an NUS card.... As my uni refuses to pay the >£50,000 yearly membership fee.

Cheaper if you buy 24, or 36 months.
This is the normal price. Zero deal. The deal here is the aforementioned online course to get one of these. I did it and it saved me a couple of hundred quid at STA on flights to Canada and I've already used it (I upgraded to the ISIC card) out here in Canada

You don't get the 5% Amazon NUS discount though.

No you don't..... you need a student/university .ac email address. I have an NUS card. As an OU student, we are not issued with .ac.uk emails so we can't get cheap prime Wish I could but they're having none of it.

You can however, get cheap prime without the NUS card as already said.

Yes you can. If you send an email to Amazon with a shot of your nus card. They will accept you for Amazon student Prime.

I sent a message and asked and they refused to accept I was actually a student. Told me they would only accept a letter on headed paper from university which is pretty difficult to come across in the digital world of OU.... I am more than happy to be proven wrong on this though. Did you just email the 'contact' bit on the site?

It has only been recently that Amazon have lifted the restrictions (I applied and was accepted in October). The email address i used was:

amazon-student-verification@amazon.co.uk

Just attatch a photo of your nus card and explain it's an application to join Amazon Student Prime.

Ah, it was back when Prime first began that I tried and failed...... maybe they've had a lot like me and lifted the restrictions then. Be nice if they would actually tell people mind you!
Thanks for the info, will email later. How did they take payment, can they just add it to the account then we pay? Would be so much easier for everyone if they just accepted and validated NUS card numbers!
