Thanks didn't even know it was 10% on clothes I just thought it'd have been your usual measly 5%.

Darn... I forgot about this.

Will Amazon back date?

I've got an NUS, this deal doesn't expire until my NUS card does am I right?

Sorry, but what the hell do students need, jewellery & watches, personal care appliances, health and beauty, pet supplies, lawn & garden and automotive stuff for? I thought students were penniless? I thought tuition fees left them with nothing? And they're getting 10% discount at Amazon? Please.

/rantover please continue.

Yes your right, it actually never expires:) for those that don't have an nus card use the generic code which cannot be listed here but starts with 1 and counts up to 9 then again repeat:) works for topman as well

Students are real people you know, that can buy whatever they like and get discount because they are paying 9000 a year,

It's sooo restrictive what you can actually use the NUS discount for though :-S I've had one for years and it's maybe every 1 in 4 purchases that I actually save anything (the odd 5p off a book for example!)

Also works on Blu Rays DVDs, MP3's CDs etc.

To be fair, you don't.

The VAST majority of students do not pay anything until they are earning a reasonable wage well after they have graduated.

The reason they get these deals is because students represent future affluent consumers in their twenties and brand loyalty is created by being nice to them when they are in their pot noodle years.

We all know a student. Just ask and get the discount through them.

I'm a mature student BACONIZGUDE doesn't mean I don't need these things..

Rant over

Sorry BACONIZGUD4ME

Do I detect jealousy?

Thank you! Amazes me how many people rant about student discounts like they're getting some sort of unfair advantage (see BACONIZGUD4ME above) !? The companies do it merely to create loyalty with young, potentially affluent future customers - it's a business decision not some government scheme...

That will come in handy! Thanks!

Are you really admitting that you are that thick you think student is equal to a penniless teenager, really? I'm doing an open university degree, work full time and have a family. I pay £12 a year for an NUS extra card, too bloody right I'm entitled to discounts, if you spent your time more constructively rather than whinging about what everyone else is entitled too, lets say, I don't know.... doing a degree?... perhaps you would be saving yourself a few extra pennies too and getting a much needed education it seems.

Of all those things you listed, its 5% discount, not 10%...

Generic code doesn't work! Does the discount apply to Amazon sellers also?

I'm in exactly the same boat - I've worked full time without break in employment for 16 years, have a family and have just embarked on an Open University course. I can tell you that it's really hard to find the time between work, family and study - negative people should give it a try before making casting judgements.

why is it students get all the discounts? my fella has served in the army for 12 years and gets sweet fa really annoys me! !

the vast majority of students are significantly worse off than a 'penniless teenager' and would do well to minimise the extent of their debt as much as is possible. but well done you

What, exactly, has that got to do with this?

Student discount has been available for ages, I'm sure most students are already aware, but heat given. I use flubit and only accept offers of 11%/12%, so therefore never order direct with Amazon and never use my student discount.

I totally agree with your comments. I too work full time as well as have a family,I'm also trying to study for a degree with the OU. Its flipping hard work-have just finished my studying for tonight.

I buy my nus card every year to get the minuscule discount s. It really does surprise me how people are so jealous of a huge 5% amazon discount!!

What does that have to do with anything as someone has already asked?

I worked for the nhs for 13 years and then didn't get discounts for anything. I didn't feel the need to complain. I now work for a cancer charity caring for people who are terminally ill. Does that make me qualify for any discounts? Not it doesn't and I wouldn't expect it to!

So just because you are a student that means you shouldn't wear a watch, shave yourself with an electric razor, wash yourself, feed your dog,mow your lawn or try and run a car?

Its great that you grudge someone training to be a nurse or a doctor for example any of these things!

Not all students are penniless teens, get a grip!!

get a life

When I walk into a cinema etc I say do you do a military discount? NO! Oh ok! What about a student discount? Yes, are you a student?... No I'm in the forces. Apparently I don't deserve a discount. I also don't protest about Amazon not paying UK TAX like students protest... Funny how their loyalty can be bought by a 5% discount :-/ hmmm..... Back to my £9,000 PA Net pay, if I get my legs blown off I'll start asking if they do a disabled discount.

Forces get LOADS of discounts. I know as I am one of them. Your obviously not looking in the right places or asking.

Students are entitled to discounts as are OAP, Forces etc etc there does not need to be a reason.

Go to a different cinema? Im forces and there are plenty of discounts out there. Its a company decision, just like when you give to charity YOU would give to who you feel should have your money. People could argue being in the forces (like I am) is a chosen vocation. Having your legs blown off is not a choice. I am grateful for any discount given & realise its not personal when I dont get it. For those that do in certain places & I don't. Good on them! :-)
