Does anyone know when they send you the invite to renew? Mine's up at the end of the month but I fly to Nepal on the 25th....

What was the Pizza Express minimum spend?

The way I look at it: Amazon Prime for 2 years - £158 Prime new cost £78 NUS card for 2 years £23.50 Vouchers -£15 Half price Prime, £17.50 net cost of card if looking at the vouchers/cost of course, saving on the laptop we need to buy...and I bought a course which may be of use (it's relevant to me anyway!)

Asking for help. I want to order a three year card - but in a legitimate manner. Can anybody recommend a free / cheap 3 year course - that will make me technically truthfully eligible for the card? I really appreciate any contributions/help.

just takes me to a link to click for unidays? think they have closed the loophole? (skeptical)

Can someone explain about this? I have had nus card for few years i logged into my nus account was given a code with amazon i then went to amazon and enter code at checkout. Has it changed? Do they require you to have amazon student as above or is this different? Or has it all changed since last using it over a yr ago? I can still buy stuff from uk and get posted to uk address which then can be forwarded to me overseas. But i can also buy many things from amazon and get shipped overseas. Would i benifit from this? And what sbout prime not really know nothing about this i takes its more suited if living in uk still? I got the nus card mainly for amazon purchases and any others who ship overseas and maybe from time to time can get stuff sent to uk address. But confused about the amazon student thing and nus mentioned on here. Greatfull of some feedback

Ah, it was back when Prime first began that I tried and failed...... maybe they've had a lot like me and lifted the restrictions then. Be nice if they would actually tell people mind you! Thanks for the info, will email later. How did they take payment, can they just add it to the account then we pay? Would be so much easier for everyone if they just accepted and validated NUS card numbers!

It has only been recently that Amazon have lifted the restrictions (I applied and was accepted in October). The email address i used was: Just attatch a photo of your nus card and explain it's an application to join Amazon Student Prime. :)

I sent a message and asked and they refused to accept I was actually a student. Told me they would only accept a letter on headed paper from university which is pretty difficult to come across in the digital world of OU.... I am more than happy to be proven wrong on this though. Did you just email the 'contact' bit on the site?

Yes you can. If you send an email to Amazon with a shot of your nus card. They will accept you for Amazon student Prime.

Bit naughty, but will just do Shaw Academy me thinks...

Even though you'd have been better off keeping the money in a decent savings account because you'd make more in interest than the loan is costing you?

I thought they sent the card to your college or uni to be collected? no?

But students don't earn a lot now. They're learning, not earning. How is it something for nothing? You're hardly rolling in cash as a student. Why is it bad that they are getting discounts? The country needs students; why shouldn't a young adult be offered the incentive to better themselves? You think they'll get a sense of entitlement from 10% off the odd shop and a free McDonalds hamburger every now and then? Really?

Because students are at the perfect age for companies to start making an impression on. They are young adults who are living independently for the first time who, although they don't have a steady income now, will likely get a steady income in 3 years and, typically, it will be a larger income than non-students by virtue of the fact they're continuing higher education. If the company who offers the discount can reach these students and get them to try their products consistently over a 3 year period, the hope is that they will continue to buy said product after they leave university and for a good chunk of time afterwards. Companies aren't just offering students a discount with this card. They're investing in a future customer base who will pay full price after university.

You can get a 5% discount on alot of Amazon products. Worth it just for that!

nus card is the best £11 ive spent, only thing im going to miss about college is not being able to get one

Cineworld cinema 3d film tickets are £2.61 cheaper for students, and regular films are £2.06 cheaper too. Me the Mrs save a fortune. The NUS card pays for itself.

I got an nus this year and have not used it for anything yet, not sure it was worthwhile.

Given it a go. We'll see if they accept or not! I noticed that it would actually be only £4 for a replacement but they are charging £1.99 for the replacement ISIC card which is currently being offered free when you buy the full price NUS card. If you remove this from the original order (which you don't complete) then you wouldn't be charged for the replacement (if you don't want it that is).

ISIC proofs you are a student and its acceptable worldwide so you get discounts in museums, attractions, and etc.

This does not make sense, I had an ISIC one last year and not once did I ever use it, Also you normally have to pay extra for it. If it is a free add on then fair enough but I doubt many people use it to be honest.

as above ?

What if you already have a card?

I've got discount from Amazon everytime I order books / cds, the code is in your account so will apply every time...

I thnk the benefits of the NUS card are accumalative; Its not just Amazon, Play and Maccy Ds (all of which work for me) Superdrug, Peacocks, New Look, Burtons, La Senza, JJB, Comet, ATS, Halfords, Warehouse, Bodyshop, Topman, Topshop, Oasis (all mostly 10% but 20% Xmas etc)Nicky Clark Salons 40% (pricey to start tho!) Firetrap 15%, Fatface etc etc the list goes on. Always worth asking in local shops, especially if you live near the Uni. Most theatres, cinemas, tourist attractions, theme parks, At the end of the day guys moneysaving is what its all about ain't it? Oh and if you go abroad you can get discounts there too, France, Spain and Greece definately. :giggle:

it was a local local council gym.

Which gym did he get 50% off???

I see your point, when i was a student i did not bother with an NUS card. The point of this deal was that people who dont/cant get a card from their uni to prove they are a student (like me) can pay £10 and get all the benefits students do. My professional body do not give out student cards so this is the only way i can get one. The guy at work who is 40 even qualified for one of these.
