what brand is it just googled and found novatech has its branded one for £95 novatech.co.uk/nov…gt1

The 9800GT is basically the same as the 8800GT but made using a 65nm or 55nm process(as opposed to only a 65nm process on the 8800GT). In terms of performance they are virtually the same. The 9800GT does have slightly lower power consumption IIRC if it is one of the 55nm ones. This is another example of Nvidia's rebrands.

Basically Nvidia have done the following for their desktop chips:

8800GTS 512mb to 9800GTX(65nm) to 9800GTX+(55nm) to GTS250

8800GT(65nm) to 9800GT(65nm or 55nm) to GTS240

8800GS(96 shaders and 192 bit RAM) 384mb/768mb to 9600GSO(96 shaders and 192 bit RAM) 384mb/768mb to 9600GSO 512mb(48 shaders and 256 bit RAM)

8600GT/8600GTS(80nm) to 9500GT(65nm or 55nm)

8500GT(80nm) to 9400GT(65nm or 55nm)

8400GS(G86) to 8400GS(G98) - the latter version has Purevideo 3

Basically the major differences between all of these GPUs are:
1.)A manufacturing process shrink and some additional power savings as a result
2.)Higher clocks
3.)A different BIOS

There was also the following:

8800GTS 320mb/640mb(96 shaders and 384bit RAM) to 8800GTS 512mb(128 shaders and 256bit RAM)

8800GTX 768mb (128 shaders and 384bit RAM) to 9800GTX 512mb (128 shaders and 256bit RAM) even though they were of comparable speed with the former winning out in some situations!!

GTX260(192 shaders) to GTX260(216 shaders) - the latter could be a 65nm or 55nm version

Basically this is what Nvidia has been doing since late 2006!!

How is this card compared to 8800GTX ?

How is this card compared to 8800GTX ?

The 8800GTX is better. It has 128 stream processors whereas the 8800GT only has 112. The 8800GTX also has 768mb of RAM on a 384 bit memory bus whereas the 8800GT has 512mb of RAM on a 256 bit memory bus.
