Yes
This is an Nvidia discount on this item, it is even this price on their website. I wish Nvidia would also discount the version with the game controller. The Game controller alone is £59.99

I am getting this soon, but really want the game controller too...... keep watching for me guys for the discount on the £189.99 (I think Amazon have at £179.99 at mo, but I want more!)
Might be worth a punt seeing as I get a 8% discount at currys

Unfortunately not my LG tv does but not this
This is the best streaming box you can get imho if Nvidia could get the price down to around £100 like a few years back they would make s killin in sales. Just wish the YouTube app would support HDR

Neutral for me. I recommend buying a version with a gamepad even if you don't think you'll use it, yet, it works out cheaper as it's about £60 alone. The gamepad is comfortable, is a must for playing much of the vast range of quality games, it has air mouse support, and has always listening mode for a full Google assistant experience. That being said, once you get used to the necessary commands, using a keyboard / mouse with this is a whole new experience.

£150 should be the price for the version with the game controller. I paid about this price for controller as well on black Friday. Not voting cold though as this version is still technically discounted. Not tried iPlayer 4k on it. Not sure why it works on some people TV and not all. Thought using the shield would bypass any restrictions the TV would have?
How does this shield thing differ from using a pc to access 4k stuff? sorry
Shame the 500gb version with controller isn’t discounted.
This is a price match against nvidia's deal, I'm going to wait for the deal with the controller.

It would be nice if they brought the Gamecube and Wii games to the UK not just China.

This is a small box, so you can hook it up via hdmi behind or beneath the TV.
I have mine tucked on top and out of site of my wall mounted TV.

I mainly use it for Plex, Iplayer and YouTube.

Google Home voice activation turns it on.
Alexa to select the TV show in Plex (you can do similar in KODI).

I have had a Raspberry Pi and an Android box and used a PC. This is better than all of them due to faster, better UI, cheap er and smaller (obviously does not apply to all of them)

Yes but on Plex I'm getting audio sync issues and occasional hitches (wired ethernet connection)

It's blindingly fast otherwise though and plays HEVC without needing transcoding

Is it possible to put a PS2 emulator on this? for example pcsx2?
wayneyork3 h, 33 m ago

What about PS2 games?

What are you using as a Plex Server?

Currently have a PI3 running Raspbian, but there's no way it will cope with 4k files.

Thanks this is a good start. It seems to be a way of making your tv do the stuff a pc might do media wise

I was using the Shield, but I moved it to a HP Proliant (bought from here cheaply) running Celearon 2.3GHZ, 8GB, as there Shield has limited space and I wanted to use Plex to it's full with video trailers etc.
I haven't tried 4k off it, as don't have a 4k TV yet, but have no issues with it.
Plex on the Shield ran fine, but as I have the PC, it was a no brainer to move it to there. Works fine across the house (Wired of wireless)

I posted this in the Shield deal at Amazon:

Whilst trying to convince myself to buy one, I came across this article:

pocket-lint.com/tv/…mas

Toward the end of the article it says:

If you'd rather wait a little longer, the full Nvidia Shield TV package, with remote and game controller, will be available at £30 off in the UK from 18 December

Not sure how reliable this is, but if the offer with just the remote runs until the 24th and you want the controller, there shouldn't be any harm in waiting to see what happens next Monday.
Is the hardware in this any different from the "original" version? Documentation seems to suggest the same.

I meant the pi won't manage with h.265 files.

I don't know if the pi would have to transcode the files to play on the Shield?
