Hello all been searching around for one of these and even on the used market they are mega pricey. Good to see amazon doing a good deal on their used ones. They also have vairing teirs of conditions as well. Be sure to check the description for an outline of the condition.

a word of warning : I'm getting a 3rd replacement controller as right analog stick is pulling to the right, and I'm not using it very often. also there is battery drain issue for the remote. box itself is brilliant

Do not hesitate, buy it.

Mine original one still going strong
Great console/box cannot fault it!
Has anyone bought used from Amazon before? How accurate are the descriptions? 1/4 inch scratch on the back sound fine, but how accurate is that type of description as it says it in all of them.

Are they tested before shipping?

Its Amazon. If your not happy send it back.
Wasn't it cheaper to buy brand new during the black friday sales?

Also is this the older or newer model?

Bought one a couple of weeks ago - amazing box, can't recomend enough
I like tech, but only know what I need to know... Can someone tell me if this is worth investing in for streaming from android apps such as popcorn time, kodi etc...? I've got the latest 4K fire stick, I have a feeling that they will perform equally? However, I'm willing to shell out for something that performs even better than my current (near-perfect) streaming 4K fire stick... Or have I just answered my own question?

It's the best gadget for streaming and leaves the rest for dust.
I very like the box, but remote is very annoying, that touch button should be removed as I keep touching accidentally every time

Thank you for the reply. What is the interface like? Obviously I'm used to the neat and tidy Amazon one currently...

So with my Sky fibre and the Amazon 4K fire stick, I currently get near-perfect streaming TBH... Maybe some lip-sync issues sometimes, but otherwise the streaming is good. "official" apps like netflixs and prime stream just fine, it's the hoaky streaming apps that I have which are dodgy sometimes. You reckon one of these devices will clear that up for? Or at least a good chance of it?

You can disable the touch volume controls. It is under settings. It is very annoying I agree.
Just buy one if you can afford it. Really.

You can disable that. There's an option in the remote settings.

Unlike the firestick which is wireless, the nvidia shield can connect directly via ethernet, thus there should be no streaming issues, so long as your broadband can cope with the video/audio bandwidth. You also have to remember that if your using any unofficial streaming apps (ahem ahem), then that will depend on the remote servers. But the nvidia itself is more than capable of handling 4k.

As I said previously, it's currently the fastest android device for streaming and the plus side of it is that you can use it for playing games too. Honestly you can't go wrong with it.

BTW I've just bought it too.....what model is this? 2017?

Does it throw a spanner in the works if I say that I've bough a Amazon Ethernet Adaptor for my Fire stick??

I'm tech mad myself with my own YouTube channel so I've tried all the Amazon Sticks and boxes, been sent loads of boxes to review for companies and the Shield wins them all.
Don't get me wrong the Amazon 4k box is still my second favorite but you can no longer buy them.
Good thing with the Shield is the free gaming service on Nvidias GeForce Now, I've been trying there games out with the controller and work amazing.
When you've said issues with streams it could be the link or where your watching it, Kodi is dead to me plenty .apk apps to use instead. Lip sync you can adjust on your TV or if you get a Shield there's a setting in the settings menu for sync

It's an adaptor to allow a hard wired Ethernet connection into the fire stick... Which I haven't installed yet, but when I do it should stabilise the stream so match the Shield stream quality?? ... In theory?

it should be a lot better, but it won't match the speed or quality of the shield.
So so annoyed these jumped back up by £50 straight after Black Friday!!

Hanging in there for them to drop again!

They won’t be forever at the higher price, just wait and buy when the price drops.

He means the lack of ethernet as a negative point against the Fire Stick is negated.

I owned firestick and the 4k tv box and this is far better in every aspect, especially seems much better for PLEX,KODI and its more than a streaming box as you have the gaming option and retro gaming options, you will need USB storage though, saying that the 4k amazon box is still great bit of kit if that is the budget range you can only afford.

Very useful info. Much appreciated. So all in all - I'll get a better performance out of a shield. Even if my firestick is hard wired to my router, a hardwired Shield will trump the firestick...?

I believe, currently, the best price for a new shield TV console is through Amazon prime now with their the £10 off offer.
is it worth getting a geforce now subscription?
£135 still a not bad price with a remote and gamepad now the best price on Amazon. Tempting!

Same, I'd rather wait a little and spend another £15.

Weirdly the standard version is dearer as a used sale
got update for 5.1 on YouTube now and atmos for prime, just gotta wait for Netflix for Atmos, also can play for free games for a limited time for geforce account
I purchased mine off very.co.uk as they have a £30 discount if you are a new customer so I set an account up in my daughter's name and got a brand new shield TV for £159.99. The £135 Warehouse deal is a good price but personally I would pay an extra £25 for a new one for warranty and peace of mind
