Getting rid of old stock as a announcement is coming soon?

That's what I was hoping for...

It is a great piece of kit whatever the reason

Don't wait. This will chew through everything you throw at it, 4k, HDR, atmos, you name it. Best piece of kit i've purchased in years. New version will just have slightly updated Tegra and not much more.

Is it worth it if I have an xbox one x that I play games on and a 4k firestick for my IPTV, films etc.

Was going to get a firestick for upstairs but then I have just seen this post.

I know it's old now but I've never heard of this box before.

Have a look at the Ugoos am6. More powerful, more features and better user interface.
I've had one, sold it after 12 months. My 4k firetv works just as well as video, and the new UI on Android TV is terrible. Great if you game, but for video don't waste your time.

Try fallout 4
Apparently Rockstar removed GTA V from GeForce Now recently leaving everyone who owned it on Steam but who don't have a good enough PC to play it without access to it.

Rumoured to be due to a streaming exclusivity deal with Stadia.

I have a GeForce Now trial but play GTA V locally on my PC.
Can you install full/desktop Chrome browser on this?

People was saying this last black Friday although it seems imminent due to patents they requested
whats the deal?
How is this a deal? It's basically the normal price

Am I right that it was £120 4 years ago, is it improving with age???

I remember it was £100 on one of the prime days a number of years ago
Hope the new one supports Dolby vision!

Played it on the PS4.. decent game.

I only ever use the android tv features when I can't be arsed to get up and get the sheild remote. Also for anyone considering the controller package that might already have PS3, PS4 or the newer bluetooth xbox one controller, these all work perfectly well with the sheild. Me and my 4 year old son have had many hours enjoying the free lego movie game that came with the sheild.

Good advice.thanks mate. I didnt know that. I was just about to shell out for a controller too. Cheers
Just buy one from cex 2nd hand. They're pretty cheap. The 500gb shields are priced well.

Is there any lag/latency on the controls etc?
I have two 2017 Shields and I love the hardware. Not a fan of the remote so I use my old fire stick one - though would prefer to use my Now TV remote because of the form factor and volume controls - had anyone managed to do that?

Aside from that my only gripe it's with Android TV itself. Google seem to really treat it like an afterthought. The Pie update hasn't made much of a difference IMO. The Android TV Play store feels years out of date and Google don't seem to be interested in getting mainstream apps on it. Even the Google Movies app on my LG Web OS TV is a newer version than the Android TV one! That's insane to me! I think Nvidia with the Shield is doing more to sustain Android TV than Google themselves! And that's coming from a Google fan!!
how long does it typically take to be accepted onto the GeForce Now beta? could've swore I signed up to try it an eternity ago - just checked and had to add myself to the list tho

I'm talking about the controller on geforce now. Not the game.
I'm a bit of a technophob, but have an 'ebay t95z box' that randomly keeps freezing. I tend to use Modro for TV and stremio for films, would this be a better option?

Get what you're saying but it'll irk me knowing there's a better version that'll be supported for longer and be faster albeit slightly lol.
All other Android boxes have to bow down to this, my best freebie ever

Much better.
I have one, and they're pretty good but it's a bit annoying that a couple of the TV catchup apps ( e.g. All4, UKTV Play) aren't available. I know you can sideload All4, but it seems a bit of a faff and didn't work very well for me.

Despite this, we have replaced our Sky subscription with this and haven't looked back! And my son loves playing all the lego games on the Nvidia Now service!

Would be very interested, but I've read that it doesn't support Dolby Digital. True? I really don't want to upgrade my amp as happy with Dolby Digital so this would be a deal breaker.
i still have the version 1 of this same hardware of version 2, solid performer, excellent for plex and games. if you only need netflix, prime video etc the Amazon fireTV 4K is much cheaper and works very well, i have both
I want to buy one and probably will look at the new one but I don't get it. If you have another pc which I do £40 old i5 ex office HP slim pc then just run moonlight job done surely? I use my ps3 controller with a £7 dongle. Game from my gaming PC streamed to living room.

If the Shield is connected directly to the amp (rather than directly to the TV and using Arc) then it should work just fine.

Yes, this seems to be an ongoing issue, not addressed by Nvidia. Couldn't find any information confirming support on future version of the box. I suspect this is not down to technicalities, but licensing instead. I have a Dolby Atmos setup so can't really complain because it handles it perfectly! Just go crazy and update to Atmos!

It seems to be important to consider which games are supported on geforce and which games have proper controller support. Doom and MGS5 for example plays particularly well in both regards.

Just go on nvidias site, it'll tell you the GeForce enabled games.
If you're looking to use this just for watching Netflix etc you're massively under using the shield
Wow, for nvidia 2% is generious, snap them up guys!!
Can you play games without a computer? Or can it only stream from a pc?

You can use Geforce now? I think it's called to stream from their servers, they used to give you couple of games free as well. It's not bad, wired internet conection is recommended though. Wireless even right next to a router is not reliable.
