On my black Friday list to buy. After some frantic Google at 6am. Probably going to get the cheapest version and use my PS4 controller if I do any gaming. This is a manufacturer price drop so all retailers should follow suit. Which hopefully means there will be some left in 12 hours when I get chance to buy

Awesome device. Best android box around in this guys opinion. If you don't own one, buy one. Deal or not. I've got two already and would still buy another!

You are the spelling police!

Great box, only criticism I have is that the media remote doesn't have dedicated buttons for play/pause etc and that it can take a couple of seconds to wake up if the remote has been sat for a while.

Good price but Steam link costs like 4 pounds.

Two years ago in black friday i bought previous version for £120. Great stuff.

Yeah but I doubt many people interested in this are suddenly going to remember they have a gaming PC lying around their house to hook it up!

To pause just double tap the volume control.

Can I use my Xbox one wireless controller on this?

This does 4K gamestream, as well as being a full Android TV box, and had the ability to be a Plex server.

It does a little bit more than a Steam Link.

Still expensive for what 99% of people will be using it for TV streaming we all know the systems . Good spec spec hardware but as a android box primarily not needed, a million and one cheaper options.

Damn! I've been rumbled. I was working undercover.

So can anyone tell me the benefits of this? I'm genuinely interested, not trolling. I know it's meant to be a beast of a streaming box, but I own a steam link already, so would it be a wasted upgrade and I should just get an android box for media streaming? Does it do anything else to justify the price?

Fantastic device, love mine had it a year, never let me down and running a Plex server on it is the icing on the cake! Hot.

That was without the gamepad. Even if you don’t need it I would buy with as they sell for over £30 on eBay

Ehhh...A matter of perspective. To be sure, this is worth it if you fancy streaming your games to your TV in the front room or whatever, but the apps side of things is woefully ill equipped - especially when you get a glimpse at how much more expansive the US region is. Sure...You could sideload things, but if you're looking to just plug, play and use any app from the store, you're going to be disappointed.

FOR EXAMPLE. TV apps that are missing:

- Anything to do with Virgin
- Anything to do with Sky
- Channel 4
- Channel 5
- Now TV

if you can abide the multimedia aspects being a little lacking though, this is a good purchase. You may want to buy the extra SD card or plum for the pro version though.

I have had mine for two years and it still runs smooth as butter, does not crash, streams 4K content from multiple sources and is regularly updated with both improved security and features. The £50 android box I bought at the same time has not seen a single update, often locks up and is far less pleasant to use with a poor interface and remote. It also does not do the likes of 4K Netflix. Wish I had just stumped up for 2 Shields in the first place myself.

This just got another update yesterday, this also supports dts hd master audio and dolby true HD atmos pass through!

coming up on Very.co.uk tomorrow

Also I think gaming PCs are typically around £700-£1000 for something decent.

No, it was exactly this one.

best box ive ever bought.. full hyperspin setup on it, use samsung smart remote to control media on it.. 4k conte t. absokute beast!

Ordered this bundle last Friday, arrived on Tuesday and was installed in 1/2 hour. Replaced an RPi3 (with codec licenses) running OSMC and Plex - it's head and shoulders above the Pi. Faster, full HD audio passthrough, Play Store for all the extras... Well worth it.

Did you pay £10 less than this deal right? It’s the same stuff?

Why do you keep spamming this?

It was £159 with the controller, £149 with the remote.

Would you want to watch Sky on this though? Wouldn't you just watch Sky on your Sky box?

Also don't go buying "the extra SD card" whatever that is, this doesn't have a card slot. Just two USB 3.0 ports for expansion.

Showing as 190 for me how do I get discount?

Sure I saw price change earlier but guessing this is a price for Friday midnight? It says it's lowering on Very Friday so should be all retailers then like the PS4 pro price drops?. Anyone use games using PS4 controller? Read online it only accepts one Bluetooth device at a time?

Yup me too, had it in basket on mobile site but when i went to checkout, it went back to £189.99.

Hopefully they just announced it too early and it'll return later, or tomorrow.
