O2 All Rounder Unlimited Broadband + Line Rental @19.25 per month + 200 pounds cash credit + £100 Marks and Spencer Voucher

I am an O2 mobile customer and here is what I got.

O2 Unlimited for 12 months contract + Line Rental evening and weekend free = £19.25
Other Charges = £43 for land line installation + £3 for router delivery

On top of this they are going to give me £200 credit in my mobile account and £100 Marks and Spencer Vouchers.

So all in all landline and unlimited broadband would workout for me

£240 +£ 46 - £300 = -£14

So in affect they are paying me from their own pocket £14 to have these two items for a year. It is a 12 month contract.

I called them over the phone and that is how I got these deals.

Cons: I have the online script emailed me to prove that they have promised there is not going to be any cap on unlimited data. There have been some problems with P2P throttling in the past but I was assured on the phone as well as on their live chat programme that it would not be the case.

Also they claim that the download speed would be up to 16Meg but realistically speaking it would be around 3.5 meg. That should be alright for my online streaming. Obviously if you are a heavy user then you should be opting for fiberoptics.

Why are O2 giving this:

Now this is entirely my take on this. I think they are giving these lucrative deals because as many of you would know that O2 has been bought by Sky for £180 million + £20 million conditional payment. It is this £20m payment which is conditional on O2 customers successfully moving to Sky. It is a win win situation for all parties customers, O2 and Sky.

I have also conformed that the T&C of my contract would stay the same for 12 months regardless of the takeover. If they change T&C I would stil have nothing to loose as by law I could leave them and choose another provider but effectively £240 richer.

I saw this deal on O2 priority and then called them direct. And I think it is only valid for a week. I am not sure how it would pan out for non O2 customers, it is worth trying them a call, there should be some quidco and TCB. Vouchers are I think for everyone.

This is my first post so any suggestions are welcome. I thought I should share it with you guys, what do you think?

Oh yes there are no £43 charges if you are already on BT line. Virgin guys try to put up the barrier by using their own switch so as other companies have to pay for an enginneer to visit the box may be that is why they want to recuperate those £43 from customers. I am sure this we unite this anti competitive barrier be lifted but if only. OFT (OFCOm etc) have complained again and again that they do not receive enough complaints from british consumers.

I was told that it was only £200 credit and the £100 m&S is for customers without a o2 mobile.

Are you sure you get the £100 M&S voucher as well because I signed up the same deal, got the £200 credit but they wouldn't give me the voucher?

I guess I haggled more. I am sure as they told me they would send me the vouchers through welcome pack. I shall update the post if I would not receive it. I took up the deal yesterday. I said what are you guys going to do about £43 pound for installation charges? May be that prompted them.

You must be one hell of a haggler! I tried and they just wouldn't let me have the voucher! Haha..but I can't really argue with the £200 credit!
Let us know how you get on!

Ouch!!

There is no harm trying again, this time may be highlight them two factors, one, their speed would be low so you do not have incentive, second, £43 pounds are a big barrier, what can they do about it. The worst case is they might say no. Whats the harm. Try it if you have time.

I wouldn't quite get too carried away ;-)

My offer is £10.50 line rental, free BB and the marks n sparks voucher, would of given me the £200 credit but I am only 30 day simplicity only.

good work,hot from me

This looks promising

We will try in the morning Thank you op

£13 p/m for line rental
£6.25 for BB
£43 to activate/install the line
£200 credit after 30 days

Refused to provide the M&S Voucher also.

Todl them I'd have to have a chat with other ISP's, they werent bothered lol.
will call again later

Just rang them and was told that it is half price for non-o2 customers for the all-rounder @ 17.50 and £13 for the line rental making it

£8.75 + £13 = £21.75 per month

Nowhere near a good deal as the above so where am I going wrong?

I was just thinking, would it be better If I were to recommend you and then you and I both would get £20 referral commission. One extra thing would be they would know that both you and I have talked about this and you know what deal did I get. As I stated earlier, I am not sure how this would pan out though.

Please read my post earlier for further details. I am not sure how else could i help. Nevertheless let me know if I could be of help. I do not think we shall break any laws if I were to send you a referral. I shall need your email address and first and last name though.

Is the 12 month contract for the BB or both BB and line rental?

Original Poster

for both.

BTW their all rounder package DOES throttle P2P between 4PM and Midnight

"On top of this they are going to give me £200 credit in my mobile account.."
So it's not "200 pounds cash credit.." then?
Edited by: "pasheast" 16th Apr 2013

Just called again, they're still refusing BOTH Cashback and Mobile Credit.
Refused to waive the engineer install costs also.
Even with having multiple lines with them.

I think OP is gonna be pretty dissapointed if he's 100% banking on getting both.
As for the price...

All rounder -
£19.25 p/m (Inc Line Rental [£13])
Does have Traffic Management/throttling of P2P
Speeds reduced during peak hours
16:00 - 00:00 Weekdays
12:00 - 00:00 Weekends
