Good price, even just for the media functions!

Such a shame it doesn't support iTunes format or the iPhone calander!!

H&R

Bargain for £49.99

Does anyone know if you need to have a mobile phone contract with this to use the features?

You need an O2 SIM (PAYG or Contract) to benefit from the O2 Calender functions.

You can also hack it, but I'm not sure on the advantages of this if anyone knows ?

Looks pretty interesting, looks like you may be able to install other linux distros on it hackthejoggler.freeforums.org/

Thanks OP. Was thinking about getting one of these. At £99, I was in two minds...at £49, it's a done deal.

Thanks

so will this play divx straight off a memory stick plugged into it?

It's worth £50 just for the calendar and Internet radio. I like the way you get texts to remind you of things in your calendar

I think it's worth a punt at £49 even as a fancy picture frame....I don't think they were selling many at £99 though. The benefit of hacking it would be to install linux and have access to games/ apps like an internet browser maybe?

Shame it can't run on batteries, might make a cool alarm clock or something.....might design a battery pack for it!.

lol you beat me to posting this also. You work at o2 OP?

good worth a try.

this gonna be available in 02 high street stores? or is it online/phone orders only?

Oxygene;8253489

£99.99In Stock

clearly states in the op the 49.99 is from april 2nd

hmmm...interesting, might get one to play around with!

So, seeing as you need an O2 SIM with this, how much does it cost to use the features? and what features does it use that are SIM only features?

It only says online/phone, but I cant see why the shops wouldn't sell them at this price, as they all stock them !

Give one a bell & let us know

yep-instore too-just called the 02 store in newton mearns glasgow and they are doing this deal from friday-just need to convince mrs barky that I NEED another gadget:whistling:

so does it have any built in storage?

whats the point of internet connections if it doesn't have an internet browser?

Original Poster

I think it has limited storage, but you can also plug in USB pens etc for extra space.

It has WiFi for the radio, sky sports news, weather, downloading apps, downloading updates etc

1 Gig of internal storage, plus usb for stick storage. Internet connection allows for things like internet radio, weather updates, traffic updates etc. I would hope a browser might come along with the app store.

finding it hard to see any owners who actually like it, looks about as well supported as a Sinclair C5

Can someone tell me what I would use this for that I wouldnt/couldnt do on my netbook far more practically?

Why do I need a calendar when I have a BB and iPhone already synched with my Outlook (which organises my entire life!).

Genuine enquiry! I am looking to be converted, as its "interesting" for 49 squid.

I dont get this, just like I dont get that O2 passport credit./debit card thingy!:?

10% Quidco? Does this count as an accessory??

want one!

Want one

wonders if you can use it as a alarm clock too, I can see this making its way to my bedside table.

Handy divx player...

+1.

Good post OP, although you owe me £50 - I am suddenly £50 less well off, and I hold you responsible.

deal of the year for what is essentially a tablet PC.... Reminds me of 3Com's Audrey

Wil be getting one as an alarm clock. Worth it for the internet radio alone IMO.

Great! Was tempted with one the other day at £99. Definitely getting one for this price. Hot!

Still not quite sure what it is but here's a link to the product page on o2 for more detail, FAQs and promo...
At £49 for a digital radio it looks very good value. It looks like it does everything over WiFi and therefore does not need a SIM, and you get 50 free text messages from it every month...

yourfamily.o2.co.uk/o2f…ler

All, I have one of these and paid a lot more than £50.
Anyway - i'll explain -
1.Its a digital picture frame - it has internal storage and you load photos or video by USB stick - i can't remember if it plays off the stick - yes i think it does.
2. Its a streaming media player - so will play vids via wireless from your twonky server etc. It has inbuilt speakers or jack out.
3. its wireless radio, weather app news and sports news it gets via the internet - the radio is provided by "PURE"
4.it has live traffic updates from Traficmaster - with a map
5.it plays mp3's yes off the usb
6.it has the O2 calendar - it syncs with online calendar and will txt O2 phones for free as alerts for calendar items.
7.it sends and receives SMS - it has no sim but does have a mobile numer and IMEI - i'm on O2 but i think the joggler get x amount of free txts a month. You can also txt it and it pops up on the screen as well as txting it to add or check calendar entries. So if you send an sms to check a day it replies and tells you if something is already booked in etc.
8.it has a few games on.
9. Its touch screen

Screen res good for photos or will display a digital clock if you don't want a slide show. With the inclusion of the apps it's a steal a £50. Yes, had negative press but O2 have spent some money on it as i remember doing a survey a year ago about what i would like to see on there and they have listened.

It's re-branded openpeak at the end of the day www.openpeak.com

M

as it doesnt support itunes could someone tell me how easy it would be to take some existing music on itunes converting it to another format for this whilst still retaining the original music on itunes. I like the idea of this to use next to the bed with the radio but could i easily put a few albums on it....
