very good deal.

Just remember to pay off phone before canceling- even day or so to avoid any problems. Unlock can be done before hand online, and code took a few hours.
I can see the 5gb tariff with £59.99 upfront but monthly airtime cost shows as £34??

Just wondering, if you're on O2 refresh, you can still pay off the phone and cancel the contract without any additional charges right?

Yep. Pay it off when you get the phone.
You sure this hasn't been plugged yet? Previous attempts at this on other handsets seem to have failed on here.

£ 300 for a small-sized flagship phone is smoking hot! Even iPhones have joined the screen size race.

Was £ 340 when I bought it 5 days ago! Have to return mine to re-buy to get the price.
Beware cancelling O2 refresh contracts is difficult. and frustrating. They often take the full airtime amount incorrectly. Best to ensure you speak with a supervisor even in initial correspondence. That said good deal
Any comment on the camera? A mate has an S6 which has a excellent camera for a phone. I have a Z3c and the camera is rubbish compared to s6.
I think the deals here beat this, £32.49 with no upfront for the 5Gb deal.

No, this is O2 Refresh - you pay off the phone and cancel the contract so you never pay the extra £10 * 24.

I find the Z3 compact camera to be good. Have you tried turning off the Auto mode? This caps the resolution to something like 8 megapixels. if you use the Manual mode you can select upto 21mp.
I wish I could just pay for the device monthly and not pay the airtime cost
Thanks,
Just carried out the above, I just have to wait now until they unlock my phone.
Much appreciated saved me a fortune!
beware of easy to break Sony screens
Received a disconnected bill of full amount? Any suggestion? Canceled on the 5th day, so should be subsidised for 5 days???
does it have to be this specific contract? and if so, why? i was looking at some where you dont need to pay upfront at all and you can still do all the same stuff - pay for the phone outright then cancel within the cooling off period (after you unlock the phone) and you have the same as above?

Calculate the total device price. The £ 59.99 + £ 10*24 is the cheapest.

I have a Z1 Compact. I dropped it on concrete from about 4ft a couple of days ago fact down, not a scratch. It was a bloody miracle.

that has nothing to do with my question...

i did not ask about the cost, i asked if it has to be that specific contract and why, as there is no reason you cannot use one that you pay nothing upfront and do the same thing (pay off the phone, cancel the contract) no matter the contract, the cost of the phone is the SAME £312, none are actually £299

You pay £59 up front. When you cancel all you need to pay off is the remaining device cost which on this £10*24m. Total cost for phone is £299

I was sorely tempted not to reply given your attitude but hey ho :-)

Right here goes.
From what I can make out yes it needs to be this plan.

Why?

You have two choices. Pay for the phone up front right away for £312 and choose a tarif to go with it.

OR

Pay for the phone over the course of the total contract where your monthly payment is made up of plan plus a monthly contribution towards the cost of the phone

On this plan the phone cost is 59.99 and a further 24months at £10 as well as the tariff cost of £21. Yes the 24m@10+59.99 doesn't add up to £312 that you would pay if choose the first option and that is the point.

You elect to pay for the phone over 24m and then once setup. You cancel. The whole point of the refresh style contract is you can do this at any time and just pay off the remaining phone monthly payments you have left to pay which is £240
