O2 Retention Deal Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge £360 24 month contract: 15 x 24 = £360

I've been with o2 for around 8 years. Called up yesterday for a new deal.

I asked for the s7 edge. They offered me this deal:
£15 a month (device plan)
24 month contract: 15 x 24 = £360

The airtime plan was £25 a month for 5gb but they gave me a fiver off that too.

You can pay the device plan off and cancel the airtime (I think on refresh)

Also got free Samsung Bluetooth speakers worth £99.

Good deal I think! I'll let you guys be the judge!

its a good deal ;-) you looked at iphones aswell?

Nope. Specifically asked for S7 edge

This deal is normally £43 per month = £1032 for 5gb over 24 months. So yes you have a quite unbelievable deal!!

They were actually asking for £59.99 upfront for the phone. They waived it When I asked for a loyalty discount

Not that unbelievable...
£35 x 24 = 840 so less than £200 saved vs your deal. Don't rate the S7 or the edge so haven't voted hot or cold.

Also the Bluetooth speaker is via redemption

So, can I get this? I'm not on o2.

Yeah, deal not best presented here, £35 per month....

Original Poster

But you can cancel the £20 airtime on refresh

I managed to get the standard s7 for £288 due to hukd. Not sure why peeps want edge though.

Just called O2 to get 2 contracts as a new customer, They offered me same airtime price £25 per month 5GB plan but they said I have to pay £59.99 upfront cost to be able to get device plan for 15x24=360 which is not as good a deal as without the upfront cost.Still a good deal for existing customers. I have been looking for this deal now for past couple of weeks as I missed out on the last occasion when £50.00 discount code TA6FKBT413 was available which is now expired.

No you can't, it's a bit hit and miss even for the ones that are on O2.

Depends who answers the phone. Ring until you get the right person

Expired - not available to anyone else

O2 also have a fair deal policy. So if you struggle to get this. you can always refer to their policy

poor deal my airtime is 20 a month for 10gb

Very good deal in my opinion....the edge is a lovely device, and as the Note 7 is an obvious no go, the edge is the next best device.

Tried the normal s7 first, but hated the 'small' screen size.....especially as it was to be a replacement for my now sold Note 4.

Compared to my EE upgrade deal, which I still think is good , this is even better.......

The deal is good but would this work for anyone who isn't currently with O2?

Every person has a daily quota of amount they can waive off or discounts they can give
That's in Vodafone but o2 might have similar system in place

That's not true. The discount can be applied any number of times by any advisor. However it is a loyalty discount so cannot be used by new customers.
There is also a 20% loyalty discount for additional lines as long as the main line has no discount.

I have got this deal with the same phone, i paid 59.99 upfront, 40 quid per month but will get 5 quid off making it 35 quid a month with 5gb data

You get the 5 quid discount if you are a existing customer

hey so just been on live chat with 02. right now..
and they have confirmed with me for the s7 edge

saying - You can cancel the contract for airtime plan anytime once you have paid the device plan in full

but will cost you £462 upfront. and if you cancel airtime then you pay zero for that. simple ;-)

Ok just went onto O2 chat for the same reason.

The S7 Edge is £120 off right now. So the device plan was £17 per month with £21.50 for airtime.

She also gave me 3 months airtime free, so I am only paying £17 per month for the first 3 months. I can cancel at any time and just pay off the phone (£17*24 = £408).

I think I will cancel after the three months and go back to Three. Also got the speakers for free.

Pretty great deal.

Do you have a link for the deal you saying. As I cannot find it

Gone into the store and they tell me i cannot cancel the airtime anytime. Will call O2 to confirm. I will be really annoyed if true as I asked her to confirm that 5 times.

Will update you guys

Yep - same here. So the store was wrong. This is a bit frustrating to be honest lol.

But its a great deal - and sorry the pricing was slightly wrong - its 18 per month instead of 17 and the upfront cost is 10.

Are you an existing o2 customer and do you have to pay anything upfront?

You won't get cashback on these deals ASD.

Might be having a change of heart as I got to the store and realised the chat rep ordered me the wrong phone - I should have double checked and am kicking myself for that.

Got to the store and realised - asked them to cancel. They said I had to speak to customer service, so went on chat (for 2 hours). The connection (on their side) kept dropping off so had to explain myself a few times, spoke to three different people on phone too. Eventually told had to go back to the store and 'reject' the phone which will be sent back to O2 (even though it was always at the store in the first place). Had to do another credit check (twice in a day which is not good for your credit score).

Long and short of it - not everyone knows that you can cancel the airtime portion of the contract without penalty. And cancelling this plan in future may prove tricky as the experience with their support people has been quite poor.

The deal is great though. The plan is 18*24 = £432 for the phone. If you take the three months free airtime into account (21.50 x 3), then the phone essentially becomes £367. In my eyes that's a great deal. But there is also effort involved.

Ohh. What phone did you get by mistake?

They ordered the S7 and not the Edge. All sorted now though.

Oh. So just to confirm there was no penalty to cancel airtime ? Thinking of ordering too.

Cheers

I haven't cancelled the airtime yet. I will cancel after the three months free period ends. Interesting after going through cancellation with three they offered me £11 per month no term, 8GB data, 600 minutes and unlimited texts. Was very tempted lol.
