Not bad for wireless N

Can I buy it for £10 to upgrade my current box? Looks like you can plug an external drive in to it and access it remotely??!!

Nice one, was just looking to upgrade my 02 G router!

I've had boxes before (b,g,n) which promise faster speeds but never noticed any difference. I just use wireless for normal use (surfing and the occasional downloads/upload). Perhaps the difference only shows with heavy network traffic like printing, etc..

Where does it say £10 in that link?

pet2000 - Wireless N has improved range and would be useful for streaming movies, you probably won't gain much if you just surf

I could do with one of these!

Brilliant, I can not seem to get any other router working with my connection for love nor money, other than ones supplied by O2. And the ones I have used (I and II) both overheat frequently. Will hunt for these and give it a go, cheers OP!

If your internet connection is, say, 5meg, having wireless significantly faster than that will have little or no effect to your internet experience. (Of course there are some caveats to that but going from G to N won't show much difference).

The difference comes when you're talking about two computers on the same network where your speed is only capped by that of the network medium. N rated wireless devices should be able to comfortably outperform standard mechanical laptop hard drives.

If you have a network server of some sort or you want to share files between computers, a faster wireless speed will make all the difference... Though sticking a Cat5 cable into gigabit interfaces will be a whole load faster still.

I've just spoken to 02 on Twitter and this deal is only when you take out one of their packages.

Today is the last day too!

HTH

Just checked with my local store and it's coming up as £50 on their system.

Was it a manager's special or something?

It's free when you take out one of their packages, I doubt they'd be stopping that

Going to try my local O2 store tomorrow

could you let us know if it is still available at this price when you do, many thanks

I hope it's more secure than the previous version!

Just had a chat on the phone with an O2 customer service chap at the local O2 shop. He says they still doing it tomorrow for a tenner. Will get it then.

strange having no gigabit, would be great otherwise.

OK, one of my daft questions. I have an O2 BB connection with an older Thomson ADSL2+ router and am wondering if I get this shiny N router and then leave O2 can it be used with any ISP or is it like the Sky routers locked to Sky unless you use the magic unlock crowbar?

TIA for any postive suggestions.

would be nice if someone clarified if this is only for o2 customers and whether this is locked to o2? Cheers

Any one got instructions on how to install this - is it simply a matter of unplugging old box and plugging this one in? Thanks

went to my local o2 store today - they have ordered me one in for tomorrow and say the deal runs till october 10th. Guess i will find out in the morning when i go pay for it

thanks to the op for the deal

Yeah should be, the wireless password is on a sticker under the unit, then go to http://192.168.1.254 if you want to change any settings.

O2 / BT hardware is ****, get a £15-£20 tplink router would be better , this is from experience with lots of hardware....

o2 Modem? I think I'll pass.

Anyone know if this router can perform under low SNR margin or if it will just resync? That was the main reason I was forced to switch from the old Thompson router to my Netgear...

Thanks

I've asked if it can be ordered online.
