Imagine the drumsticks you would get off one of those. Could probably feed the whole family with one.

Had Ostrich once, at a mountain restaurant in Verbier it was del ish

Tried Ostrich from Aldi before, funny texture and taste. Good deal if you're a fan.

dont forget the marlin at £1.99

We bought some ostrich burgers for BBQ last Sat, form local farmers market. Very popular, even if only novelty value....ran out. I was not keen to try them but not that keen on most meat lately

Theres a reason god gave ostriches long legs so they could run extremley fast ,feet that when they kick you they can dissembowel you & they also have a nasty bite, it's to keep you from tasting how vile there meat is yuk!!!

That picture is bloody scary I voted hot because I am scared of it , I also have to admit first thinking "Why the hell would anyone want to wear an Ostrich medallion "? so i clicked on link looking for some kind of gangsta bling piece of jewelery with perhaps a gold plated ostrich head or something . ... idiot .

edit - the 2nd main picture looks like a large t*rd .

Are these fresh or frozen? Wouldn't buy any meat frozen to be honest but if fresh then not a bad deal.

Have to say I prefer Kangaroo though......

That picture is so vile.

Ugly bu**ers deserve to be eaten... (and I'm vegetarian)

I had Ostrich in Africa-it was a bit chewy but it may have been cooked badly.I would be willing to give it another taste.

awesome pic heat added for that! scary! any ostrich horror films anyone?

Ostrich meat is good. If cooked well it tastes like a slightly richer fillet steak.

:pirate:CJ:pirate:

Sitting on the fence on this one.

I eat quite a lot of Ostrich from a local butcher, will agree with others if cooked properly is really tasty, and lower in cholesterol than most meats.

However frozen isn't for me, but try ostrich if you get chance, Kangaroo too, v tasty

Just to add, I pay around £10 a kilo for mine fresh, £13.50 a kg seems steep

Mate.. you could feed ALL our families with one of those.. they are huge

Sorry but it is NOTHING like chicken.. for starters it's a dark meat.

Has anyone tried this from ASDA? I buy fresh ortrich every week from my local butchers.
Absolutely delicious as long as its cooked enough, has to be fairly well done, without fluids running.
Slightly raw and it makes me vomit, well done and its one of my favourite meats.

I buy it from a local farmers market and its extremely dark meat like steak, not at all like chicken

Yum yum tasty
I like

most Aldi meat is terrible. I bought some beef medallions from there last week, they were the toughest thing I have ever eaten.

voted hot just coz of the pic!!!

Why do some people feel compelled to post when they haven't a clue what they're talking about?

just grosses me out we eat anything these days....

OK meat but very tough if not cooked properly.
Actually, quite tough if you DO cook it properly!

What do you mean 'these days'? My mum used to serve up tripe, tongue, liver......

Softee!

Apparently there's a shortage of squirrel - we can't get enough of them!
Was in Cambodia recently - fried tarantulas are a favourite. I'm told they taste a bit like salt and vinegar crisps but didn't put it to the test!

Low fat so cooking method is important.
