Buy mine if you want, upgraded to quest
I'm a complete noob on VR, but having seen the new Half life trailer recently, which looks amazing, what would I need to play that, thanks in advance.

This is pretty old tech now and is for smartphones only, mainly Samsung Galaxy. The new Half life game was designed specifically to work with the Valve Index but also works with the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows MR. It might eventually work with the Oculus Quest as long as you have the PC cable.

If cost is the issue then you would be better off trying to find a second hand Rift with 2 sensors and grips for around £250. Other than that it is better that you do a bit of research about the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift-S/Quest, Valve Index and the various Windows Mixed Reality solutions.

This headset is for the most part now abandoned. Oculus are putting all their effort into the £400 Quest. I would put the value of this Headset at less than £100 considering so little new software is being made available.

As you mention wanting to play Half-life: Alyx, you will need a beefy Gaming PC. However it should be mentioned there is at least one company looking to provide cloud gaming support to Quest - shadow.tech. This would in theory, allow you to wirelessly play Half-Life: Alyx on Quest for a monthly fee. No date has been offered as to when Quest will get (wirelessly) supported, however I suspect at the very least, Oculus Link (cable) will become compatible in the very near future.
