Does that work even with the likes of Alyx?

I use Radeon Relive which is included with the software with my AMD Powercolor Red Devil 5700XT card. I'm assuming it comes with other AMD cards too. It is basically like ALVR and Remote Desktop. You need to sideload the Relive APK onto the quest.

The PC needs to be plugged into ethernet and the Quest connected to a 5ghz wireless router 2.4 will not run well.

I played Half Life Alyx at highest settings with absolutely no stuttering at all. My PC and router are upstairs and I use a TP Link RE450 repeater downstairs to send 5ghz to the quest cos I have more room in the living room to run and jump about

It works flawlessly.

Even better if you hook it up wirelessly to a PC

You can do wireless with virtual desktop

Nope he's right.
Virtual desktop is an app that connects over WiFi to your pc, which is used to run the game.

I use it every day to connect to my high spec virtual pc (shadow) hosted in a data centre

Cool - any lag?
Isn't £400 RRP?

Wirelessly your options are the virtual desktop application (£14.99) or ALVR (free). Virtual desktop is the more polished application and is easier to get going out of the box, but your going to have a bit of input lag with both due to it streaming over the network. I’ve got a pretty decent home network and it still provides just a bit too much lag for games like beat saber where timing is crucial. I haven’t played Alyx yet but you might be able to get away with it as the input lag isn’t dreadful, it just isn’t good enough for games that require good timing. I did try and wirelessly play project cars 2 and it was running awful compared to how beat saber ran though and the framerate was very choppy so your experience may vary from game to game. I personally prefer to just go wired using an amazon basics USB C cable. It’s definitely more annoying than totally wireless but I am actually able to play games like beat saber and project cars with the cable. Of course that means you have to play close to your computer which is why I haven’t yet picked up alyx, I don’t know if my play space will give me a good enough experience but I’ll pick it up if it goes on sale or something.

I can highly recommend the Oculus quest. Best of both worlds, wired and wireless. Half-life Alyx is just the most immersive game I've ever played. Even the rifts Minecraft VR is great and breaths new life in to it.
I assume its difficult to get delivery any quicker than this? I'm an impatient man
RRP price but just look at eBay to see how hard they are to get a hold of. They were difficult before Corona to find now it's even worse. I would have ordered if I'm not already waiting for Curry's to post mine from the last deal

If you have a very good wifi connection / router next to where your VR headset will be used, it works great. Alyx works well on the Quest using a wired connection or wireless via VD.

Speed tests from others suggest the lag is indistinguishable from wired if the wifi is good enough.

I've been very impressed with the Quest and thankfully I got one from the recent Currys Ebay deal.
Yeah not posted because its cheap posting because like me there are others on here trying to get 1
Delivery April 30th.

Uk stock are expected April 28th according to scan.co.uk
is this a euro plug?
Haven't turned mine on since the first week I got it.... my main problem was Oculus make you rebut loads of games you already own on the Rift I'm not buying them again, that annoyed me to the point I never went back to it lol.

You will get more than your money back if you sell it on ebay now
a new model is coming soon?
Just get one and thank me later...!!!
I know these are as hard to get as the proverbial stuff from a rocking horse, but it's not a "hot deal" if it's list price. Just goes to show how random the votes on here can be.

Dont, I'm sure someone will pay more for that

Its evolved into probably the best all round VR Headset. No reason to pay more.
speedbird74710/04/2020 13:30

Its actually pretty good and not that noticeable ... If your playing a high speed game where your whipping your head all over the place then you might notice it.

Most important thing is to make sure your headset has the best possible 5 GHz AC connectivity to your router. I've even went as far on my BT Hub 6 of splitting the channels to 2.4 & 5Ghz ... And kicking everyone apart from the headset off the 5Ghz range

Give it a go, i think its only about £14 im paying month to month. If you dont like it, youve just wasted a little bit.Great for me as My brother in law had a load of VR games on steam ... So I just use that

Works perfectly with the official cable
Absolutely love my Quest, as do my whole family. One of the best tech purchases I’ve ever made.

Oculus official Link cable: …Oculus official Link cable: https://www.oculus.com/quest/accessories/?locale=en_GB or Oculus recommended Anker Powerline USB A to USB C cable: amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MZIPYPY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_N.gKEbD2XSVYN

I use one of Amazon’s own cables, as well as a USB extender. Works like a treat.

Not all cables work of course, so definitely do some due diligence if you’re not buying the official cable.
Isnt this the standard price?.. £400... should it be cold..

There's probably a pre order wait on at the moment, think they've slowed new subs because of the sheer amount of people staying at home using it.. So overall data centre capacity utilisation has shot up
Ah ok thanks. Yeah. It’s pre order available in July. Shame I’d have totally gone for that.
