I found this cable after some research online, and when I looked at it, it was on promotion 29% off so I ordered it right away.

Cheap for a temporary solution until the optical 5m cable comes out, and very cheap good quality cable that can fast charge my phone afterwards.

All the reviews are also saying it's compatible with the quest PC Link.

Mines coming tomorrow with prime.

Very useful, thanks for the post
I use one of these, can confirm it works great. I would recommend picking up an active extension cable for some more length though, I have a very small play area (<1.5m) and you can still feel that you are getting to the end of your cable length at some points, not so far that it’s going to pull out but to the point where you feel you might be causing strain on the usb C port on the quest and damaging it.
To reduce the strain on the port using a right angled connector would help. In fact on the page it says the right angled connector is the frequently bought together item.
Nice one. Cheap and cheerful. The official cable is 80$ in the states so could be something like £80 when it's available here. As well as pass data it will be able to charge at the same time through the 5m cable. Downside is that it's usb c at both ends so unless your pc has a usb c connector it will mean yet more expense. No doubting the Quest is a game changer but since I've had mine the credit card is taking a hammering. Good though. Absolute scream with the family on Xmas day.

I've read the best thing to do is to put a small loop in the cable beside the headset and then have it connected to the strap.

Takes the load off the connector completely.
So if you buy use this you can use rift games?

Yes, and steamvr games
I use a USB-C to USB-C cable and it works flawlessly. The 10GBPS bandwidth works wonders.

2m long though? By the time youve plugged into your pc you barely have enough room to turn your head!
I only have a PC at work with a Quadro RTX 4000. Don't even know if that's compatible but I'm pretty sure a 5m cable would be better. Anyone find one yet that I don't have to remortgage for?

From what I read it's not the bandwidth of the usb connection that is the bottleneck, it's the processing power of the quest GPU. So I'm not sure the extra bandwidth would make a difference.

The reason the official one will be optical is so that it can be longer apparently.
I bought this one for my quest and it didn’t work. Ymmv but I recommend buying the Anker for £7.99 which does work.
I use this and it works great, I use the cable tidy it comes with to attach it to the back of the quest headset, without doing that the cable will get in the way, with it, it's quite comfortable
Has anyone here used the VR desktop. Apparently you can play VR games from your PC wirelessly and it has minimal lag.

I’ve been considering a Quest and was doing a bit of reading up earlier and came across some tweets by John Carmack. There may not be a bottleneck as such, rather they’ve opted to artifically cap things for better compatibility on the PC end:

Please can someone confirm the lowest power computer with which a quest will work with to play the rift and steam games on? I have reviewed various sites but cannot find thid answer - I am trying to determine if we have anything powerful enough to warrant the lead - thank you.

I had an old dk2 and that worked fine with my first gen i750 and 290x.

I would say just try the cable, for a fiver even if it doesn't work, you can use it to charge your phone etc with a fast charger.

What spec pc do you have?
