No the Vive is the same spec as the Vive. Infact you won't be able to tell the difference between the Vive and the Vive at all. Even have the same name.

Is ocul wireless? Btw does 1080ti is enough and is VR gpu only demanding ?

No, you need at least SLI 1080Ti for low settings, but you'll get an immersive 2D effect on a single 1080Ti.

Any ideas if this can be used for anything other than playing games?

Yes, you can see boobs in virtual reality.

You were the lucky one it looks likeAmazon is refusing to offer oculus …You were the lucky one it looks likeAmazon is refusing to offer oculus credits or amazon.co.uk credits From chat:"Me: I was told by your agent that it was valid and I would receive the creditand I saw it (and still see it) on your website saying "6 results for PC & Video Games : Oculus Rift - £100 credit bonus"of the 6 results, the item I bought is listedLalitha: We are sorry for the incorrect information Daniel, you can check the link which I have provided you. The offer is only valid till 24th June.Me: hence I should receive the creditthe link you provided was nowhere to be seen on your promotional pageall that your webpage (and your amazon.co.uk chat agent) said was that I would receive the full 100 creditso I purchased this product and expected to get the full amount of my order: 1 oculus rift, 1 set of touch controllers, 1 £100 Oculus store credit bonusAs I received only part of my order, the order delivery is incomplete. I am missing the £100 Oculus store credit bonusHello?Lalitha: Yes Daniel.Me: My question is: when can I expect to receive the rest of my order?when will I receive the missing item that your website advertised and your Amazon.co.uk chat agent confirmed and guaranteed?Lalitha: We are sorry for the situation Daniel, however as the promotion is expired we are unable to help you with the refund.Me: I am not expecting a refund I am expecting £100 Oculus store credit bonusif you cannot fulfil that item in my order, I expect something of equal valueLalitha: Yes Daniel I am talking about £100.Me: if you offer £100 amazon credit instead of £100 Oculus store credit bonus, I would agree to that£100 amazon.co.uk credit is equivalent to £100 Oculus store credit bonus, as I will spend £100 at both amazon.co.uk and at oculusLalitha: I wish I could do that for you however please understand that as the promotion is ended we are unable to take any actions on the order.Me: on your website it does not list that the promotion has endedand after I placed the order on July 10th, I spoke with your agent who said I will be receiving the credithence you are obligated by our contract of purchase and sale to deliver £100 creditI expect to receive my order in full - including the £100 credit - whether in oculus store or amazon.co.uk store creditLalitha: As I have already mentioned we are sorry for the wrong information provided by previous agent. however we are unable to help you with the promotion on your present order.Me: then I will have to send the item back for a full refundas you are stating you are unwilling to complete the orderI have opened everything and have set it up - and was hoping to use the £100 credit today to purchase items on the oculus storeIf your agent gave me incorrect information, the fault and obligation is on amazon.co.ukLalitha: Could you please allow me two minutes to check this with my resources?Me: yesLalitha: Thank you for waiting. I understand that it effects Amazon if we provide you some incorrect information.I will escalate this and make sure that this will not happen again. If you want to return the item I will help you with the free returns label.Me: how will you rectify this situation for me todayokay send me the return labelI will buy it from Currys.co.uk instead as they are able to fulfil their ordered - each itemLalitha: We will make sure this will not happen again, While I can't do enough to compensate for the inconvenience caused and cover for the loss of time you had and the only thing I can do is make sure that you get a better service from us when you place orders from us in future by giving a strong feedback against the previous agent.Me: you can compensate me with an amazon.co.uk creditthat would be enoughLalitha: I wish I could do that for you, however our system will not give us an option to help you with the credit.Me: does your supervisor have the optionLalitha: We are sorry Daniel, as the promotion is expired no one will get an option for this."here's the promo link they sent me: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/promotions/details/popup/ASISZA72DCH1LGood on you mate, but it looks like the oculus store credit bonus is a one off for one lucky guy! Take the money and run!!!

Am I the only one here reading these comments and thinking there is something a bit distasteful about some of our members trying to defraud a company out of money over a promotion which ended 2 weeks ago. Get over it, promotion ended, just cos one person managed to convince Amazon it was valid when it wasn't doesn't mean everybody should be entitled to it. Honestly, did your parents never tell you it's wrong to steal sweets from a shop?

Red hot!

Wow, fantastic deal.
Those on the fence, just get it. The touch controllers are fantastic

Is this really a good price?
£400?
I'm new to VR but are there any other alternatives?

Crazy price drop!!

The deal below was the best deal so far for the Rift:
hotukdeals.com/dea…058

But £200 off is much better than getting £100 credit for Oculus store. As long as you have the PC specs for VR then there's no cheaper alternative.

This is also taking into consideration that on release, the touch controllers alone were £200

With this bundle you'll get a few free games included - Lucky's Tale, Robo Recall and some others. Robo Recall is honestly brilliant and will keep you going until you decide what games you're after.

That is an insane price drop.

Well worth it, wish I had the pennies spare lol

I posted that one as well. Was sad to see it go so cold but it looks like this one is more agreeable The Rift is a great deal at this price I reckon. Nearest competitor is the HTC Vive which is great but looking way overpriced now.

Yeah it was a shame it went cold because it was just in time for the Oculus and Steam sales which offered some really good discounts on pretty much every popular VR title

This is awesome, I paid much more than this for the headset alone but definitely worth it even at that price. The touch controllers add a whole new dimension to gaming, get this if you have ever been on the fence about VR gaming, but make sure your pc can handle it!

Damn. I was waiting for a good PS4 deal during Prime Day, but this has thrown me. I'm not rich enough for both.

This severe price drop makes me think the Rift isn't selling well and I'd be buying into a ****. If I had £900 i'd get a Vive.

Finally it's at the price they originally promised, with the controllers too!
Still questionable whether there's the content to stop it collecting dust after a week

God damn it I just bought one for 600 last night.

ive got one.. amazing piece of kit... ur pc`s video card needs to be high spec to use though..

Great price, Would have bought this at release if it was at this price or maybe if its VIVE. but 1 years later. may as well wait for oculus 2. VR current is too primitive

Seriously considering it at this price but really not sure my system is up to it these days; i7-2600k, 16GB ram and a 4GB R9 290X. Reckon it's going to struggle?

Stupid question but as a complete noob, I take it you need a PC or something to use this?
Is there any standalone VR product that doesn't require a PC?
What about powering it from a mac or other video gaming system?
Thanks in advance.

Is ocul wireless? Btw does 1080ti is enough and is VR gpu only demanding ?

Will it work on the new iMac I just received (2017 top spec with 40GB RAM)? I know they demoed it working with VR at recent expo. Might be the software not ready yet?

With £900 you can buy this plus a pc to run it!

Do you get any games for free?

How is game compatibility with this compared to HTC Vive?

Does this include the £100 free credit?

Yeah you need a powerful PC. The headset in effect just becomes an external monitor, so the content you are playing is shown on the Monitor too.

Stupidly good deal

Chanser

Do you get any games for free?

Yes a few games are bundled free and should be activated automatically when you create an Oculus account

No that was for the Oculus summer deals offer which ended last week

Game compatibility is fine on most games which are supposedly Vive only.

Steam VR + Oculus Store

Oculus or Viva? What's the difference?

Some games to recommend:

Racing: iRacing, Project Cars, Assetto Corsa, rFactor, Dirt Rally
Flying / Space Sim: Elite Dangerous, IL2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad, Aerofly FS2, FlyInside (Software to make FSX, Prepar3d, Xplane VR compatible)
FPS Pavlov VR, Onward, Raw Data, Robo Recall, Arizona Sunshine
Sport Thrill of the Fight, Eleven Table Tennis, Racket NX

I've had the vive and sold it, definitely a good experience. I've bought an Oculus and I am expecting a significant downgrade, at least in terms of tracking and room scale capability.

99p cheaper on their website?

When the Vive was released it was the only VR unit capable of tracking your movement 360 degrees. It also had hand controllers out of the box, which Oculus didn't have until the end of the year.

Oculus now supports 360 degree movement because you get a second sensor with the touch controllers and you can buy a third sensor (£50 in CEX) to get the dead spots.
I would argue that the touch controllers are more natural feeling for hand movement, but either solution is good.

The advantage of the Vive is you require less USB ports, less wires trailing the room for the sensors / lighthouses and the upcoming knuckle controllers. Whether that is worth the extra is individual choice.
