Hello,

You'd previously requested that we notify you when the Oculus Rift (amazon.co.uk/Ocu…HRG) would be available for pre-order.

We wanted to let you know that the Oculus Rift will be available to pre-order from 11:00am BST on Wednesday, 17 August 2016.

Due to limited supply from the manufacturer, orders will be restricted to one item per customer, per address.

From 11:00am BST on Wednesday, 17 August, you can place your order for the Oculus Rift by clicking amazon.co.uk/Ocu…HRG. Add 1 item to your shopping basket, and proceed to the checkout.

We hope this helps, and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Regards,

Depends how much room space you have available.

Yes if you have the room (and a understanding wife for all the electronics needed) and the money

How do you get to try it for 30 days? As far as I'm aware you have 30 days to return items in unused and undamaged condition.

that is Amazons official line, but they are brilliant with returns, just go into any game they sell and read the reviews people send games back that are rubbish all the time

Not a deal.

Wow, £549 and an increase in price. What a deal.

subjective and your opinion, someone who was about to buy one of ebay at a inflated price would disagree with you, one persons opinion is not every ones

ok, not a deal as its RRP!

How much? oO

Check that your computer will run it before you jump in as my 3.4ghz Intel i5 cpu with 32gb ram, GTX 460 card and USB 3 ports computer does not run the Rift development kit that a friend couldn't get to run on his computer and brought it round to try on mine.

The compatibility tool failed my CPU, GFX card and said my USB 3 ports were not supported either.

Tried checking with the tool and it says no to my FX 9590 but it does no benchmarks, it just checks a list. AMD have released a list of processors that they tested and mine is on it. Also it said my USB 3 ports were not up to scratch but I have a Gigabyte 990FX-Gaming motherboard.
The compatibility tool seems a little (a lot) biased.

It would cost 529 from Oculus themselves who ship from the netherlands. So this is a deal IMO even though it's a bit dearer, you can play with it for 29 days then get a full refund if you're still not sure.

PS you need a GTX 970 card or higher to get a full experience from this device.

Just in case the compatibility tool is not as accurate as some suggested I downloaded the drivers/software and installed it and selected the simplest free app or game that said it did not need any extra controllers and such, the robot or android ABE one, but the headset never lit up at all. As three of us have tried it then it may of course have been a faulty unit but so far we have been unable to get it to work on my i5 or two earlier socket i7 computers.

That might be an issue with the USB if it did not respond. A cheap card might be the solution? Just a thought?

I had both the onboard USB 3 ones my Asus P8Z68-V PRO motherboard and additional ones in a multicard reader, USB 3, eSata dashboard drive bay hub.
