For me, a casual user new to VR, the inside out tracking of the Rift S is a big positive. It’s so easy to set up and start - paired with my gaming laptop I have high quality mobile VR.

I've been checking this since the 15% Ebay offer a few weeks ago but the nearest branch that shows up with stock is the 92nd on the list (170 mile round trip).

On some occasions it shows with a £3.95 postage option, which disappears when you open the listing.
Literally out of stock everywhere
Damn good headset

As I said in the OP, Checknow.co.uk is showing this as available across the country. The Argos website shows the same when double checking. You’re probably in one of the areas where stock is available in a couple of days (which means you can’t do this deal just yet).
Not quite the cheapest it’s been but not far off and a good price.
Bought. Going to try it and then decide between this and CV1. Love a returns policy

It's all about the Oculus Quest.
Any news on an audio adapter? Cba with separate headphones...
The huge audio downgrade isn’t worth the marginal visual upgrades. I was really considering upgrading my rift but I really can’t stomach it.
Inside out tracking is nice though.
Don't forget the potential 3% cashback on TopCashBack!
Would this work comfortably with my laptop it's a msi GS65 1070???
I prefer the first Oculus, I bought this and the screen seemed worse, so I sent it back and stuck to my old one. I have a Quest now though, and if it wasn't for it having no content I'd get rid of my Rift as well, having no cable is such a game changer. What I love about the Quest is being able to walk around the house with it on using the cameras lol, and having multiple rooms setup, so I can walk into one room to another.

Wow how does that work out? Is there a Youtube video to demo this? I'm intrigued.
Did it actually worked for someone? I tried to order, but first I had some generic error message when I tried to pay, after that:

"This item isn't available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired."

It was 2 hours ago, I can still select and try to order but same message. The website also show it's available.
hi, can anyone recommend laptop that would handle this VR set? cheapest and maybe ebay used

Can't see a button to buy it on mobile for some reason. Maybe just being blind...
Ain't the newer quest better than this ?

If you have a displayport (mini is fine) then it will work perfectly. If not you may be okay if you have a thunderbolt port connected directly to the 1070

They are different, quest is totally standalone but is powered by a phone cpu/gpu so it can't handle the same level of games.

Got HDMI so best to connect to a different monitor/TV? I thought it was all through the headset didn't realise display mattered, cheers

What laptop is it? It probably does have a mini displayport but if it doesn't then this headset won't work the only laptop without one that I know of is the razer blade pro 2017. Pretty much all other headsets work with hdmi though so you could get something else.

Have you tried ALVR for streaming SteamVR games? It works a lot better than I thought it would. I'm not sure how it would work with a standard router supplied by an ISP tho.

I would assume it comes with all the games they gave with the original out of which robo recall is excellent.

It doesn’t come with all of the free games. Only two. Quill and Medium.

I upgraded from a Rift CV1 to a Rift S. The improved resolution, the much improved godrays and the lack of sensors make it a really excellent upgrade. I'm not really fussed about paying more than double for the Valve Index when it still relies on an external multi sensor setup, though the knuckles are cool. I'm waiting for the first unit which ticks all the boxes from both headsets and is wireless from the PC. Give it a few more generations. I'm struggling to find that many things worth playing though, got any recommendations?

I really like the S especially as I already have content and a decent laptop. But you have given me another reason to go for the Quest. If the viewing quality isn't at least comparable to the CV1 then why buy it?
I sold my Rift because I couldn't stand the set up time and stopped paying altogether. Plus I knew that the new version would be out so it made sense to sell it before now people knew about it.

So far I've really liked Robo recall, Beat Saber and the obvious stuff. I got a viveport trial but it seems like an awful lot of wii-tier shovelware. I guess I'm looking for polished full games rather than anaemic little experiences y'know?
The S has one more camera than the Quest. So tracking on the S will be better but I'm not sure by how much? Also I read that the display was better than the CV1. But someone here says it is worse?

It's definitely, definitely, definitely better. Albeit 10hz slower (80hz Vs 90hz). Other than that it's a clear step up in resolution and godray reduction. Apparently blacks are worse due to it being LCD but I didn't find that an issue. I don't play "standing in a dark room VR" very much.
