Was looking at the Currys sale to see if there were any good deals on the Rift/Vive

Provided you have one of the eligible items that work with Discount code "ACC20" - It applies the discount to the entire order

For example, I went for the cheapest I could find
currys.co.uk/gbu…tml

Also works for the HTC Vive - £484.74

I have a Rift and a Vive. The Rift is far superior. The setup is much simpler, the screen is better due to less of a screen door effect (where you can make out the individual pixels), it supports the same games as the Vive through SteamVR and on top of that you can play the Oculus Home exclusives. The controllers are far better, more comfortable and better hand presence. The headset itself has headphones built in and is much more comfortable to wear. For large play spaces, you will need a 3rd sensor for the Rift for perfect tracking. This is the only advantage of the Vive, it can track bigger play areas. But for most people I don't think it would be an issue.

No question, the better choice is the Rift.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, if you do decide to go for the Vive you can play Oculus exclusive games with the Revive mod.

rubbish, (own both)

Rift best for seated.
Vive for room scale.

Vive is lighter, better colours and larger FOV.

Seems to be loads of problems with the new batch of rifts with 'mura' (noisy blacks) problems.

Once you go past two sensors on the rift then get into all sort of USB bandwidth issues. You will end up having to buy an adaptor card to fix this which means opening the PC up and that is not for everyone. Also you will have cables running all over the shop to the back of you PC.

see I can spin it too.

Setup of the Vive is extremely simple.. I am not sure what issue you would have but all you need to do is mount the light houses and plug the headset in. Steam VR software is quite self explanatory...

If you are buying the Rift you would be supporting the exclusivity deals that Facebook keeps on making - this actually harms the VR industry and isn't viable for the long term.

VR won't take off fully with companies like Facebook making these platform specific projects.

I would choose to support the Vive on this reason alone.

Tempting.

Heat. Ordered and confirm that it worked. Got extra 8% off through work scheme

Such a good deal and yet I lack the funds

Great deal, bought one of each. Had a Vive before but sold it.

Smashing deal, Vive for me. Hope they honour it. Cheers OP.

Heat ordered one of each. Thanks

Also works on graphics cards, some good deals to be had.

Looking for a buyer for the product. Beware buying in case they don't find one...

I tried that code in a Vive, didn't work.

You need to add a mouse pad. If it runs out than add another one

Which did you like more? Vive or Rift?

Thanks for costing me 330 quid

Thanks OP! Was gonna bite on a Vive on payday next weekend, but this is way too good to miss! Heat added!!

Oh man! Do I now return my Amazon purchase and buy here? Will curry's even honor this price?

The Vive is far superior in my opinion, the field of view looks bigger, tracking is on a different level, and there is a better selection of games. Also since they're on steam you can return them if you don't like them, not sure Rift has the same option. I had a rift too recently, but the tracking kept wobbling, tried two trackers and the same issue. I'll be trying again with three this time but I still doubt it can match the Vive.

Oh man. I've been debating for the last few hours whether to buy a Rift. Apparently, it was destiny. Thanks OP!

Vive ordered. Nice one!

Rift tracking is great, no problems here at all. It also has less screen door effect than the Vive. AND you can play Steam games with it, so the selection of games is the same. It's more comfortable, has built in headphones, and Oculus is funding lots of big exclusives, so it's only going to get better.

Does this work for click & collect or is it only working on delivery only items?

Great deal I paid £400 for oculus rift a few month ago

Good deal whichever you get. General consensus seems to be that, were they both the same price, it's still debatable but you would probably go for the Vive because of the better tracking (but that really only applies if you have a big space to move about in - 3m squared or over). However the Oculus touch controllers are better.

At this price difference though, you'd really have to love Valve\hate Facebook to go for the Vive first.

Amazing deal for the Vive, especially when HTC shaft you on shipping charges when you buy direct from them.

Bought a GTX 1070 too while I was at it. Does anyone have any experience with whether Currys usually follow through with these mishaps?

The original Amazon purchase also included an xbox controller and a sensor, although to be fair I've only used the controller on 2 games

Just brought a 1080 with this thx op

Wow, what a good vive price

Presumably the strix? Could you tell if it was the 8g, a8g or o8g?

Wanted to see the prices of the vega 64 but if the discount works on the 1080ti then its for me :), let's hope it goes through!

If someone struggling I added this

Couldn't resist the oculus too, so cheap with the touch controllers, so even when they update the rift, the controllers will still work.

Your evil lil_diabo. Making me spend my money. Thanks for the tip.

Orders have gone through and are processing, now the wait! Will update if I get another email, many thanks to the op!

Delivery only. I went for some rubbish mouse. Might try to return it

This is a BARGAIN for the Oculous Rift !!!

Really tempted by this, but at the same time looking forward to potential improvements and a more developed game library.
