You have to be crazy to buy a used HMD.

I’d rather pay RRP and not have some random persons face grease suctioned to my face.

I have an i5 7600k and a 980ti so it's pretty good, but I wouldn't say a BEAST is necessary. Most games ask for a 970 and an i5 so a mid-high range PC will be good enough but I would imagine most people who look at the Oculus or Vive probably already have a good machine or plan on upgrading.

For all of 8 hours as 90% of second hand ones are, seems about the right price for this outdated tech if only a still a bit on the expensive side seeing how it is used.

Release the geese, be an absolute steal if you got it though!

A Gtx1060 3gb runs the rift fine unless you turn up the detail or want to mess with oversampling.

Outdated tech . Only the Vive Pro is better and that is much more expensive and hardly a leap forward.

I got mine from Leicester JL for £1 more and was "Grade C" but when I checked the box contents before buying it they near mint. The box was a bit battered but other than that it was fine. With JL they give you the 2 year warranty anyway too.

There was no real signs of use and it appeared more like someone had issues setting it up (which I did initially as the sensor drivers were not automatically installing)

They admitted to me that they don't set the price and that it's most likely just down to the damaged box (was just the sleeve) and it being a return.

PS: It will be store specific and also mine did say "rebirbished" and not "used".

Hot! (Unless you have an irrational fear of other people’s “face grease”)
If it is used, it's the equivalent to buying a used Simba mattress....and y'all have seen those suggestive adverts...

i.e. these will have someones DNA on them....plus extras

The rift is better with washable VR Covers fitted anyway, you can also buy replacement face plates on Amazon.

Bham new Street had a vive for £400 and a couple of hp Mixed reality for £300 in their clearance section, psvr too (didn't check price). No oculus.

How far away is the next rift?

My gaming PC with the Nvidia GTX970 also runs great, loads of fun and a fantastic experience. Great price that you will struggle to better on eBay too without the Warranties etc...
vrcover.com/pro…ee/ - they're washable.

Very good price, spend the rest on games.

You won’t have the free games as the previous buyer will have on their account so factor the price of those too if you want any of them.
Most John Lewis clearance items are used but look and feel brand new; if it didn't you get a 2 year warranty so just take it back Last time I bought something from clearance, it was a Sony camera and it was so new that Sony gave me cash back on it after uploading the receipt. Usually they are just 'change of mind' items so the games might still be valid. Absolute bargain if you ask me! It's a great headset
Had a couple in Solihull too.
And a fit bit verso for £149.
They're usually un used returns so as new.

You don't need a BEAST....

A 1060 6GB runs these fine. That's 2 yr old tech.

I don’t tend to wear hotel bed sheets for a few hours per night. More chance of that occurring with the oculus. I’ve seen the kinda neck beards that would return an oculus to John Lewis and frankly I don’t need the acne, sweat and possible ejaculate ever having contact with anything I plan to wear on my feet let alone my face and surrounding my eyeballs.

A used vr headset is actually worse than used underwear. You can’t chuck this in the washing machine with bleach.

Depends what you mean by fine.
I have an Oculus and to be honest for the basic stuff a 1060 6gb will do the job but if you want to use VR for stuff like Project Cars 2 or similar a 1060 will sucks, even a 1070 isn't that great, I upgraded my computer from a 7700/1070 combo to a 8700k/1080Ti to improve it and now it's good but still not as crisp as it can be.

Dude, I have a 7700k and 1080ti. There's nothing wrong with that combo, it's total overkill for VR.

'Crisp' sounds like you're more disappointed with the native resolution of the headset. Theres a long way to go before I think we'll get super 'crisp'-y displays in commercial headsets. I'd certainly upgrade for a higher resolution headset, but only if it's a big jump.

I can't say I have played project cars in VR, but every game I have played gets creamed by a 1080ti.

Thanks I do like a clean build.

I moved the build over from an Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX TG a few weeks ago, so a lot of the PC existed before the new case which made things easier. I had to use a metal grinder to remove part of the new case to fit my 360 rad on the back wall properly, and I had to order some new fittings for the new tubing run which delays things a few days, but it wasn't too bad overall!

You're all assuming it's actually being used let alone games activated. It's either an opened return or they had trouble setting up or the pc wasn't fast enough for it.
It's unlikely someone has used for 30 days and returned.

Well obviously I am almost certain a used unit will actually be used

If the PC wasn't fast enough they would have to test it therefore activating it and testing some games

Yeah every other game I've tried it is overkill but with that combo and a grid of 26 cars, you can only run at medium high settings.
Mostly medium with a couple of less intensive bits at high quality.
Its not bad by any means but it could be better, if I could play with everything cranked up to ultra and run at 90fps the Oculus would look better but I suppose I'll have to wait for the 11 series cards and see how they fair.

You don't have to use a code to activate games. They just showed as free for me. Think they are essentially useless if you don't own the Rift anyway.
