60GB is only £9 more.

and 96GB is only £25 more - but that's not the point, is it?

When its only 9.00 for another 10gb, then I would say that is a very valid point, as its all about cost per gb, and whats best, I would rather spend the extra 9.00 and get the extra 10.gb Thanks TEHJUMPINGJAWA

£1 per Gb has been the 'norm' for a while, so £9 for 10Gb is not bad, worth getting if you think you need it

In terms of real life, everyday use of laptops and pcs this is probably the most substantial upgrade you can make it'll speed up everything you do and because of the lack of storage space you find yourself more cautious of what crap you dump on your computer. I paid over £200 for my 120gb vertex 2e a while ago and I'd happily pay that again so this is a bargain. Heat added.

I've got a 40GB as a boot/applications drive, with plenty of space left. The extra would just be going to waste for many purposes.

i've got Windows 7 + Software installed (and some games) totals around 20Gb, so i've been looking for a 30Gb

50GB @ £80 = £1.61/GB
60GB @ £89 = £1.49/GB
96GB @ £106 = £1.10/GB

Not seen any "£1/GB" as the "norm" for SSDs yet !

£1 per Gb is 'normal' for flash drives - £1 per Gb for SSD must be cheap

i get why you'd want to use one for a pc, add an extra drive to boot your OS from, thus running your pc faster; why would you install on a laptop though, surely you'd be very limited in terms of storage space?! or am i just being retarded?

cold as its pixmania sorry

Lots of reasons:

- much faster; less time spent waiting means less battery wasted.
- you don't usually need as much storage space in a laptop.
- far greater shock resistance
- significantly lower power consumption, leading to longer battery life.
- lower weight
- practically silent

Some would say that SSDs make more sense in laptops than they do in desktops.

They're good everywhere, but the price per gig is still a mite high for general purposes. Personally, I can't wait until I can get a nice cheap SSD-based NAS drive!
