Definately hot. I want more capacity than 60GB (use a lot of music programs) and the 120GB version is a tenner more than 2 of these on Ebuyer! Spose I could just go for two of these....

Would running two of these or any ssd in raid0 make any difference?

When Raiding SSD's You loose the TRIM feature. but the speed will double so you would get around 560 Mb/s Read/Write

Way cheaper than overclockers.co.uk so good find op

Voted hot. Top SSD.

cracking price, currently cheaper than scan's today only price as well (providing you get free del). hopefully we'll see further reductions over the coming weeks

i bought this last week @ £130.09. gutted.

a great product

Is it worth getting these on a Asus A8N32-SLI/Deluxe
ebuyer.com/pro…415

Will postpone buying SSD until price is below £1/GB

had a few of these, good drives, and very fast

Sure. It might not hit its top speed if you're thrashing the CPU but you'll still notice a hell of a difference. And there's no reason for you not to take it with you when you upgrade the rest of the system.

Bought one last week for £124. On my i5 laptop, from Starting Windows (after Bios) to Desktop is 12 seconds. iTunes, Open Office about 1 second, small stuff practically instant. Fantastic performance increase. Strangely WEI reports the same 5.9 rating the original 5400rpm HDD despite the night and day real-world difference. Probably the best performance/cost upgrade I have made re: PCs. Highly recommended.

Great drive - bought one a couple of weeks back when they were £130 odd. The Kingston V series is a cheaper alternative but the OCZ gives the best performance.

I bought this on Sunday got in monday for my average laptop specs below:
Ebuyer Extra Value Laptop,
Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2GHz,
4GB RAM

My windows HDD score went from 5.4 to 7.7, the drive is super fast. everything opens instantly. even iTunes that normally took a good 20secs now takes 2 secs, firefox 1sec, outlook, word etc around 2-3secs.

if you are looking to speed up you desktop/laptop you need one of these.

PS you get a 3.5 adapter in the box and some stickers

The only problem with getting one of these is what a plonker you feel in a year. My first memory stick cost like 80 quid for a gig.

is this a better deal

You can't compare these two as the read and write difference in speed is a lot and if I remember correctly it's got a couple of features that one hasn't and maybe a better controller.
Someone with better knowledge or more time to research will say

major difference is the first generation vertex features an indilinx controller where as this features the new sandforce controller, TRIM and is ultimately much faster.

edit: correction they both have TRIM, however the main differences are the much higher random read/writes associated with the sandforce controler, which are more beneficial on a day to day useage scenario
