Good price for a branded 480GB SSD. Stock for this model has been very intermittent recently. Showing as shipping in 1 - 2 days when ordered directly via Amazon.

Gets generally decent reviews for a budget SSD.

Maybe the AAA types but even then...Anyway, 120GB SSDs often perform noticeably worse than 240GB and above models, and SSD performance generally drops off as it fills up... you don't need games to fill up a 120GB SSD unless it really just is for basic use.

Depends what you're playing, open world games like GTA V benefit significantly from SSDs.

I recently bought a Dell laptop with 1tb drive and 128gb SSD. Is SSD part of the hard drive or is it separate so I could change it for this one ?

Likely to be separate but you had better look into your specific model to be sure.

Haven't received it but tempted to buy this one as it's good price. I guess I can send it back in case I can't upgrade. Thanks

It might be an m.2 type - best check the specs that came with your laptop

Try using it for a while first to see how you get on before swapping it out. If it already has a 128GB SSD inside then that's absolutely plenty for your Operating System and some most used programs. You just want your SSD to get your system up and running fast, you don't need to have all your movies and media stored on it, you wouldn't really see much benefit in having those on an SSD.

Can't install many games on a 120GB SSD.

Agreed, plus Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 - GTA especially is a huuuuge chunk of any SSD gone though. And I'm pretty sure the PC HDD loading experience is well ahead of console (at least PS4).

Well yeah, because Sony are morons and attached the PS4s hard disk to the console via an internal USB header.

I wanna know where all the 1TB SSD deals at?

What!?!
Ahahahahahahaha

That's the kind of ridiculousness I expect from Nintendo.

ollie872 m ago

Nintendo are the only good console manufacturer.

But they do have a backward way of doing things. Often against the grain for better or for worse.

You can use an external hard drive with the PS4. So if you really wanted to you could get a 240GB or 480GB SSD, put it in an external case and stick your big open world games on to it.

That's not what I was talking about, but okay.

I personally wouldn't use an external hard disk because I'm a PC gamer.

Maybe, but it remains a good price for an SSD of its capacity at this moment in time.

To think when I paid £33 for a OCZ (Toshiba) 240GB drive over a year ago people on this site said it was a bad deal, how times have changed. Should have bought more than one :(.

Thank you OP! Fair price - and it got me out of my 'paralysis by analysis' nicely - ordered along with external caddy - fingers crossed

if you scroll to the comparison bit there is a Crucial SSD for £127.98, has 525GB capacity and shows to have 6GB/s data transfer as opposed to 750 mb/s. Might better deal for not a lot more.

thats just amazon stuffing up the description , the mx300 (imo) is better than this but no significant difference. These are being phased out afaik
crucial 0.241 per GB, this 0.2375 per Gb (Should be 10-12p per Gb)
