I've still have the book I borrowed from school a long time ago!
Fantastic story and think I remember watching this film on TV. Loved them both. May have to buy.

Theres also a1992 version on dvd from Amazon for £3.49 but I would prefer the B&W version myself

Ah...it brings back memories of school English lessons.

'Just keep looking ahead George...'

Any book by Steinbeck you can't go wrong.

My copy of Mice and Men had Cannery Row at the end (2 for 1). Another brilliant story.

Never seen any of his books that were made as films. Perhaps time to start. Thanks OP

Not seen the 1939 version but the 1992 one is great and is well worth a view for Gary Sinise and John Malkovich and George and Lenny

Love it, classic!!!!:)

A true yank classic

Loved the book to bits. My copy is also an ex-school version so appologies to the LEA. Great spot.

original is far better and more powerful than the 1992 IMO

Hated this at school still do lol

Hope Cath1510 will be returning that "borrowed" copy back to the school at some point. Then the kids will be able to enjoy it as much as she has all these years.

I'm tempted, I really enjoyed the book, which I originally read whilst at School and then have recently re-read with my son who is also doing this for GCSE this year...
I've never used Choices before though, what are they like?

Watched it in school! A very emotional story but also gives an insight as to the slavery issues during the time.

Malkovich was brilliant.

probably in the top 5 pretentious things you could tell strangers you like on HUKD

Gonna wait for the blu-ray.

Received my copy the other day from Choices. Very quick delivery I would very certainly use them again. The movie's great btw

Always wondered why this has been on the GCSE English curiculum for so long, an American written work of mild historic significance, Why you Brits dont study more of your own masters is beyond me. Its ironic that more American kids study shakespeare than British kids. Im guessing its chosen for its "moral" lessons.

Like most people I read the book at school, brings back memories
I've seen the '92 version, didn't know there was an earlier one, might have to check it out
