And such a respectable source too *rolls eyes*

Why are people hell bent on creating a divide in this country? First the Facebook bulls**t and now things like this.

“It all depends on the context of a stop. If they are going past a lot of Polish people, for instance, and abusing them, then we possibly would ask them to take the flag down.”

Sounds fair enough to me. You do realise the papers sensationalise stories?

Yeah I can find a link to the recent spate, several residents in my village have been approached

Less than a quid in B and M

to be honest, if they did tell you to take it down would you? Dont pay the fine and take it to court. Would never hold up.

Like has been said it is all in the context and if people are causing a nuisance.

Great stuff, will go nicely on my balcony

£4 in asda with proper england badge if that helps anyone

Find us the link then. Im proud to be english and myself and my family will be wearing england gear when the football starts but people like you cause all the conflict. The papers blow up small isolated incidents like your ancient link and try to create something from nothing. Its probably your aim in life to get stopped for flying your flag so you can have a good old moan about it.:p

I paid 99p in Sports Soccer for something similar

I always fly a flag with pride not because im racist but because im proud to be english. this is a very nice flag but i did get mine cheaper:thumbsup:

Having used the words'we possibly would ask them to take the flag down', in answer to a question related to the Police stopping a car and telling the driver to take down a flag he/she was displaying in his/her car, it would be fair to assume you are in fact a Police Officer. Yes?

So using your context, if a car (displaying a St George's Flag), was going past some Polish people and the occupants of the car were abusing said Poles, you'd stop the car and tell them to remove the flag. Why would you do that? What is the correlation you're trying to make with the displaying of a flag (something that is done in most countries around the world in support of their country in an internationally recognised sporting event), and abusive behaviour?

If the occupants were abusing the Poles (as in your imaginary context), why would 'removing the flag' be a requirement you would insist upon? Under Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986 (the act of law concerned with this offence), unless the flag was being used as a weapon and/or was daubed with offensive words/pictures then it has no relation to the abusive behaviour.

Only a pound in good old Tescos...mines gone up today 30ft in air lol

another england deal gone cold

I am sick of people who live under the security blanket this great nation provides being ashamed of our flag. We should all be as proud as other countries are to fly the flag. We all live under a Union Flag however i would never dream of telling an Ulster man that the red hand was racist or a Scotsman or Welshman that their flags were wrong. We should all be proud and never be ashamed to fly the cross of St George, never allow the looney left or and other pressure group to tarnish the proud people of England.

Being Welsh I know of not one report of us being asked to remove our flags.

...and you would probably find many people from England proudly displaying a Welsh flag ("The National Flag of Wales") as window stickers on their cars during, and following, their holidays in Wales.

BFN,

It depends on whether the displaying of your religious or nationalistic tendencies incites others to violence by aggravation.

BFN,

The police were on my mates street in Bradford a couple of weeks ago asking residents to take their flags down. When they got to my mates we just didn't answer.

There was a similar deal to this last week and I posted this on there only to get slated and told to stop making up a load of bull and that one such instance had been blown up by the media and people on the internet.

I own my home and display a flag, I also know good working class people in council homes who display a flag, I really dont understand your post:?

The flag of England, namely the Cross of St. George as bestowed on us under the direction of the Church of Rome, is okay as a national flag.

But more and more of us are flying the flag of the English (first link), under which our people fought before Church and State decided they could shaft us more efficiently if they worked together.

Is this to be yet another confused thread about the non-existent racist properties of the English flag? I see so many of these misguided debates which incorrectly confuse the racist applications of the Union Flag with the St George's Cross flag. The first is the symbol of a centuries-dead oppressive British regime often used by stupid right wing groups to promote their hate-filled policies. The other is the standard national flag of England under which we should all (regardless of ethnicity or supposed social class) be able to exercise our rights to healthy English patriotism as the people of any other nation do.

Expensive flag though.

It's not the true meaning of the flag, it's the association with redknecks and morons which destroyed it!

The big question is Why do people complain about an English flag being shown in England? Do we complain if another Country flys their own flag in their Country? I think not, and why, well that's obvious they would tell us where to go, but we are too under the thumb of do-gooders and human rights crap to see that. I do disagree with it being used for violence and racism but bloody hell this is England so why not fly our own flag.
