Found 19th Mar 2008Made hot 19th Mar 2008
Thought it be best to keep all the offers and lowest prices in one thread as it seems to be a daily thing

Will start reposting deals found regarding cheap hd-dvds - all members names will be named if posted

Just makes sense

So post the deal separately but them link it with this thread so its simply easier to navigate to the cheap prices
If its a pants idea either expire it or vote cold

The most useful thread for a long time. Why is it expired?

(yawns AGAIN at the Betamax jibes)

Yeah, why give in to the idiots Dandoc! AvForums have created a HD DVD Firesales thread, but I suppose you don't get so many plonkers posting on there

I vote for unexpiring!

this is handier to find the bargains. betamax or not, people bought cheap drives and want cheap films. that so wrong?

unspammed & voted HOT ++

I think it would be useful if these "multi-deal" threads only contained deal messages, rather than discussion comments (like this one), otherwise you have to go through pages of chit chat before you see a deal.

I think the theory is for the OP to keep adding the deals to the second post in the thread so you don't have to trawl through it.

I though hd dvd was dead.

Quick i'll grab my coat

As i've wasted at least two hours over the last week looking worldwide for a bargain on Mad Max 2/The Road Warrior on HD-DVD, i'd be eternally grateful if people could keep an eye out.

Great idea DanDoc.

I personally think the 4cheapcd's link should be removed from here.

They are attrocious and people should not use them full stop.

maybe Toshiba learnt their lesson; the more copy protection, region coding, & spec changes you have on your product, the more studio's wil love you - & people blindly follow, & slate the other format for being more consumer friendly

The best format erm............ lost, as usual.

I still picked up a £35 HD-DVD Xbox360 drive from Argos though. A very cheap way to enjoy HD before we all have to buy bluray.

I think this is a great thread! I know the format is dying out but that is exactly why we have these bargains popping up.

Thanks dandoc2 for the time your putting into this one, will be very usefull.

Thanks for the post, ignore the idiots who voted cold earlier, this site isnt like it used to be...

Voted hot and repped! Well done dandoc

Thanks, very handy to have several deals in one place. I have just now bought a stand alone HD player, previously Xbox 360 and add on drive, so am looking at all the deals on HD DVD's I can find before they sell out. Have purchased over a dozen titles so far these last two weeks and looking for more.

Great idea, dandoc. Voted hot!

Went into Zavvi (in Exeter) the other day and they have pulled all HD stock. They aren't selling them cheap at all, just returned to distributor or something. Gutted.

Can we have a thread for decent Blu-ray deals as well, not just the dead formats.

That don't sound good! I am starting to regret my ep30 purcahse - I have since ordered several titles from play etc. but none are in stock and it is unknown if they will ever get any more.

We could if there actually any decent BD deals. Sadly there aren't.
Maybe when BD decides to become affordable and coincide with the DVD market dying a death, we could post a thread. Wahey \o/

A good idea - heated

anyone else got an order update from thehut or lovefilm stating that it might take longer than expected to complete the order?

Keep all the Xbroken deals in one thread and I will promise not to reply.

Excellent idea! Heat and rep added! Thanks

Just like to point out, the "genius" himself spammed it. I know I didn't touch the button.

HD-DVD should not be compared to Betamax anyway. These players will replace a standard DVD player and will play your DVDs (very well for that matter) so will not become useless when HD-DVD films die out. Betamax only played one type of media - so therefore died.

Also HD-DVD films are starting to show up at approx 1/3rd of Blu-ray prices and a lot of them are classics, like The Thing, Big Lebowski, Spartacus, Life of Brian etc. so an ideal way to build up an HD library of old favourites in the best available quality. For once the hardware and films are both at a bargain price - this hardly ever happens so fill your boots - when it's gone, it's gone.

Heat and rep added OP.

Axelmusic have some deals BTW.

My local ASDA pulled all it's HD-DVD AND Blue Ray stock yesterday (18/03/08). I asked the sales person were it had gone and they said it was a directive to remove all stock.

What's the betting it was just meant to be the HD-DVD stock they removed? :giggle:

Or just Blu-ray?... ('Cause it sucks.)

How about unspammed, unexpired, and positively commented on by a member of staff? Is that not enough? :-D

Movietyme is in the US, they're not a UK seller as this thread claims just so people are aware although they get a thumbs up from me as I've ordered most of my HD DVDs from there.
