they've always been the cheapest till sony done their special - i got mines from here about half a year ago

Great price, I have voted it hot.

May I ask, what is quite so special about owning one of these?
All of the DVD controls can be utilized using the PS3 controller, does the remote bring anything special to the table or am I better off without?

Cheers in advance.

Controller is free
Remote is not

They do exactly the same so i guess the only reason for a remote is for cosmetic or practicality reasons.

Its basically for folk who are to lazy to figure out the buttons on the controller lol I guess the main advantage is that the PS3 controller powers down so you always need to switch it on to pause your movie or whatever.

I watch allot of films and PlayTV, If your the same this is something you really need to invest in.

Pros: Its wicked, battery life seems never ending and you don't need to point it anywhere as its blue-tooth (all remote's should be blue-tooth its brilliant), it works really well with the PS3 and my Miss can operate it too.

Cons: No back lighting, no writing on the remote for playTV functions that requires an additional sticker that lays over the top of this (but its not worth putting it on your remote as it looks crap and the ink scratch s off, oh and it doesn't have any dedicated volume controls.

Thinking about it there's more CONS than PRO's, but would i buy another one if I broke mine?

YES!

PS3 controllers are bluetooth and with rechargeable batteries, so i can't really see the upside.

If you're using the PS3 as a media centre, the controller just feels more natural. There's no real tangable benefits as such, it's more a matter of preference. Personally, I'll make do with a gamepad until I can find nothing else better to spend ~15 quid on.

Banned

i bought one and it was a waste of money i still use the ps3 game controller

You can turn this off in the settings menu so it stays on. So even this isnt an added advantage!
