For comparison: RRP is £39.99, play.com price is £34.99

I actually ordered this yesterday when the price was higher, and have just cancelled and reordered.

Nice find.

Not voted either way, but personally I dont think £30.57 is that great for a controller. I wouldnt value them much over £25.

So the fact that you can't get a DS3 for £25 anywhere doesn't matter?

Indeed, this price is cheaper than ebay prices for the official one (although you can pick up a fake for cheaper)

I do agree its expensive - i too expected to pay £25, but after much research, concluded that it simply wasn't possible if you want a real sony one.

If anyone is looking for the cheapest hight street price in comparison, currys are selling them for £34.99. All other stores I tried had them at £39.99
Dave.

Cheapest price I can see a the moment. Hot!

Cheaper deals do appear every once in a while. Carphone warehouse were doing it for £27 delivered a few weeks back.

hotukdeals.com/ite…lle

good find.

they worth it.

£29.99 in HMV Ealing instore.

Good price compared to other stores, I posted this same deal a while back and the price went back up the same day so if you want one I would suggest you extract the digit and order now... heat and rep.

Ordered, excellent price!

I don't think the rates are a good deal but if I want my rubbish collected I have to pay it. Same here you sometimes need a controller and this is the cheapest at the moment.

Hmmmmmmmm I am now wondering whether to order this. Is it worth the upgrade from sixaxis to DualShock3? Does it come with a USB Charger cable?

No it doesn't :x

Whats the battery life compared to the sixaxis and also does the controller weigh more? I prefer the sixaxis to be a little heavier.

Dam, still I might order one have been using a sixaxis I bought from Choices for £12.99 for about a year now, suppose I could always sell it on Ebay!

Battery life is 15-16 hours constant play without charge. It does weigh more and it feels good:thumbsup:

i'll wait for the ps3 wand, i dont mind using my ps2 controllers with usb adapters for now! Good price but still expensive...

still don't understand how they can justify this price. all controllers should be less than £20

Not for £30 it aint!!

Can you pick up one of the old controllers for cheap? I just need anther pad so the wife can play LittleBigPlanet with me. It doesn't need to be a Dualshock 3.

have two sixaxis and two wired Dualshock 2 and the 4 of us can play Little Big Planet with no issues. :-D

Just remember that the dualshock 2 controller has not got the PS button so you will not be able to turn off the console from the controller or go back to the main menu with it.

£30 is still over-priced. I paid almost £40 just under 2 years ago to gain a White ("Stormtrooper") DualShock(r)3 but I find it too heavy to hold for more than an hour's gaming in one sitting.

I prefer the SIXAXIS, and don't miss the rumble function anyway.

BFN,

Wow, that's expensive or a control pad. No wonder Sony can afford to give away their online service free of charge.

Here we go...

...yes, and their on-board wireless connectivity.
...and their online music video service, VidZone.

Some people criticise the DUALSHOCK controller design for being relatively unchanged since the PlayStation console launched in 1995 (1994 in Japan)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, etc.

I've tried more than a few controllers over the years (including those from various generations of Nintendo & Microsoft consoles) & have found the Sony design to suit my hands better.

Each to their own, I guess.

An issue I do have with the SIXAXIS(tm) & DUALSHOCK(r)3 controllers though is that after repeated dropping (by children of any age, me included) the shoulder buttons eventually cease functioning. It's just annoying that you can rarely salvage parts from the controllers to use as replacement parts for any others as there is no easy way to gain access inside the casing.

I expect that is probably true of all the major manufacturers' peripherals. They would sooner charge you an extra £30 for a replacement unit.

PS. Has anybody seen the videos on YouTube of Xbox 360 controllers operating a PSP, or a PS3, or a PS3 controller used on an Xbox 360?

BFN,

fp.

this was 26.99 from carphone warehouse not long ago.

its been around 29.00 for a while, sony shop had it for ages

so neither hot nor cold

i have a question to those who use DS2 controllers - what happens when you play games that require Sixaxis input? for example, Marvel Ultimate alliance, Ratchet and Clank, etc? because I hate the sixaxis control in MUA, and am worried what they might have put in the new one. was wondering if there is a way to get around it?

Now £28.62

Stupidly bought one of these last week from HMV for £39.99 so will buy this and take it back to HMV, mwah ha ha

Maybe the (second) price drop is due to the soon-to-be available two new colo[u]rs being added to the range of DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controllers in October this year:

Deep Red
Metallic Blue

To increase the range from the existing...

Piano Black
Ceramic White (& Black) - the "Stormtrooper"
Satin Silver (& Black) - to complement the Gun Metal Gr[e|a]y PS3 console issued for the release of "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots"

Although a UK resident can buy (locally) any DUALSHOCK 3 they want as long as it is Black.

Either way, the new price is (prices are) a fair drop from the initial Recommended Retail Price of £39.99 when the controllers were first released to the UK market (on 4 July 2008), having already been available in Japan from November 1997 & North America from May 1998 onwards.

cant believe thes are still so dear i got mine for tjhis exact price imported from japan with delivery over a year ago

Good price, but remember MS and Sony make a loss on their consoles and make it up in peripherals like these controllers, headsets, webcams etc...

Thank you - just ordered:thumbsup:

Why haven't these dropped in price yet? I picked up one on the day I bought my PS3 for £26 and I'm amazed they're not much cheaper now.

Deek43;6240179

Thank you - just ordered:thumbsup:

+1 :-D

Mines been dispatched, chose the FREE shipping option and it is coming by HDNL - bit unnecessary in my opinion
