Been waiting quite a while for this to come back in to stock, and @ £6.99 it will be a push to find it cheaper.
Now we can play multiplayer Mario Kart as it's meant to be.
Argos also have it in stock for home delivery, but pointless when you can reserve to collect instore.

What, with the gamecube pad? =]

Good price compared to the RRP, but still overpriced for a piece of plastic.

I couldn't be bothered to wait...

So i bought 3 Mario Kart games...

Sold the games on Ebay and ended up getting the wheels for free...

is this the original price or has it been reduced?

RRP is £12.99, so it has been reduced.

After looking around I see a few different "RRP's" - some places listing as £12.99, some at £9.99 and a few at £6.99. Amazon are even trying to claim the rrp is £25.

I don't get how anywhere can charge so much for it - it's a piece of molded plastic, it's worth less than £5.

I just tried to order, but after entering payment details , I got... "Sorry, the following items are now out of stock"

The chances are people will be reserving these to advertise the reservation number on ebay.
The store i reserved mine at now shows out of stock :?

thanks reserved mine can now race the wife!
HEAT AND REP ADDED.

They had these in toys r us last night, also got them online for £6.99 toysrus.co.uk/Pro…rch

Thanks, just managed to reserve 2 from Wakefield Cathedral Park.

Personally, I didn't think there was that much difference between this on the Wii and on the Gamecube. But now with the Wheel it's going to be a whole different game.

mario kart is a lot easier with a nun chuck!

Thanks for this. Managed to reserve one in the Southampton store :-D

Thanks. Just managed to reserve 2 at my local Argos. Now my 5 year old can thrash me at another game on the Wii!!!! :w00t:

Nick

Reserved mine at the West Quay store - Free Parking lol

When I went into Gamestation last week they had loads of these on display for £6.99. Official ones too. Was I just lucky as I didn't realise they were hard to get so cheap?

It's a tacky piece of sodding plastic.

I agree!!!

For those of you that havnt tried yet....give it a go with the nunchuck....far easier and waaaay ore responsive....

The wheel is a waste of time & money imho....

Oh and i cant believe those rrps quoted above....it cant possibly cost them more than £1 to make....

I wouldn't lose any sleep over getting one of these. The novelty wears off after a couple of minutes, and anyone who is interested in unlocking any of the other circuits would be advised to use the nunchuck!!!!

Try one, but don't order in bulk, I think most people will wonder what the fuss is when they use one.

cheers, just managed to reserve one,... voted hot....

yeah agree with the comments about the novelty wearing off. It's good to try it out with the wheel for a bit, but i personally prefer the nun-chuck/wii remote combo. Much more relaxed as you can sit back and play with both hands separated. Plus if you're a bit of a drift-king then the nunchuck is the only way to go!!
It IS down to personal preference though, that's why there's so many different control methods you can use.
Good deal though, I bought an extra one from Argos a week after it came out, but i've given it to my sister for her kids.

I think mario kart works really well with the wheel and adds a whole new dimension. I didn't think they would work that well, but got two when i bought the game and they are fantastic. i've unlocked all the courses with mine already. Great game and great accessory!

Steep price for a few pence worth of plaggy!!! Couldnt you sellotape the remote to a frisbee? Well cheaper

Crazy - I was in my local Argos yesterday and they didn't have any in stock. Tried the website in the evening and it didn't show anything either. Now they have them! Will go down and buy some.

I thought £6.99 was the RRP for the official wheel, so I was surprised when I saw some 3rd party ones for £9.99 (although you can also get some for £5.99). Don't see why people are complaining about the price, it's only £7 and you don't have to buy them. (Taping a remote to a frisbee aint a bad idea!) Yeah, they must only cost £1 to manufacture, but then the games themselves only cost £1 to manufacture and they sell those for £40!

got myself one of these a few weeks ago when i bought my mario kart game. good price

thanks OP, reserved 2 wheels

£1 to manufacture a game??? Ye after the years of work on creating hundreds of thousands different scenarios. Think about what you say.

games can often cost MILLIONS to make.....lol........software developers dont work for free you know!!

The point he is making, when you pay £40 for a game, the actual manufacture costs are tiny. Likewise with this wheel (although I'm guessing it didn't spend 3 years in the design department). If you haven't got a wheel and want one (and I think it's a cool way to drive on Mario Karts), this is a decent price.

no, the "manufacturing" costs of a game include the thousands of manhours gone into coding, designing etc the game - along with the production and distribution of the final package.

The "manufacturing" of the wheel was some guy at a PC for an hour designing it, then a few pence worth of plastic (and the distribution).

I prefer the remote/nunchuck combo. However at a recent party there were 4 wheels - 2 official, and 2 copies (blaze / joytech or something).

The copies were apparently £7 each, but they were actually really ****! The proper nintendo ones felt just that little bit better, and they have a extension 'button' for the B underneath.

In other words, I wouldn't buy one of these, but if you're in the market for a wheel, get an official one for this price, instead of one of the knock-offs.

Voted hot.

Although I agree with the point you're trying to make, This isnt true. There were dozens of wheel prototypes made, many of which were quite different from the final product. There was a lot more time and effort put into it than you would think.

Chill everyone. It's a gimmick, but works really well. Saying that - I'm old skool and prefer using the classic Wii controller.

Picked one up today, thanks.
