Well worth the price, heat from me
Can I use with me Xbox 360 and watch Tv while playing without aerial
Thanks OP, it's £5.74 direct from Amazon which is what I chose, at that price it's worth a try. Heat from me.

For anyone that uses it, is it worth getting the media remote, or does the normal controller suffice? Thank you.

Its for the Xbox One, not the Xbox 360. And it needs an aerial. So no, no and no I'm afraid.

Even better, that option wasn't available at the time that I could see as I did look and always prefer Amazon direct.
Does this only work with a standard aerial or could I use my Sky dish (just to get Freeview or FreeSat, not a Sky package) instead?
I had one when I still had an xbone
worked well - no need for extra remote, as I just used the controller
now that I sold the xbone I still have the tv tuner but it's pretty well useless because it doesn't work on pc, and nobody seems to want to buy it
Is it like HDMI pass through in that you need a live gold subscription to use it?
Wonder if this could be used with a Raspberry Pi?

Yes, only with aerial- the feed from your dish will have screw on connector, as well as different decoding of the signal etc.

Correct. Satellite and terrestrial TVs use different standards to broadcast the signals.
Seems you can hook this up to a Pi:

Eh? You don't need gold subscription to use HDMI pass through!!! And you don't need it to use this.

Unfortunately the planned feature to allow you to record TV shows was cancelled. I bought one when they announced that feature was coming and would have made this a lot more useful.
The EPG doesn't work for me when the Live Gold sub runs out.

I don't currently have a tuner, but I'm sure I can still access the guide and I don't have Live sub.

There was a thread on here that someone managed to get a load of cash back from microsoft for removing snap.
Good piece of kit for the price. I paid about 20 quid.
Is worth noting that there is an app called TVPlayer for xbox one that streams Freeview channels for free.
I had to search for it as it didn't appear in the store.
Resolution could be better, no tv listings etc, but it's free.

I use one to what TV on my monitir while gaming on my PC on my other monitor. Well worth it if you don't want to stream TV and take up bandwidth.

That's not the same tuner though that's the Hauppauge one Sold at Maplin which was just a rebranding of an existing tuner which has linux drivers.
It looks like they might have managed to get the Microsoft one working with linux on an Armv8 based system (Raspberry Pi 3) according to this Tvheadend Forum

I've edited the description, anyhow.
Could you set this up and then use SmartGlass to watch TV on a tablet in another room using the home network?

Definitely recommend the official media remote for use with this. For me it makes the over all feel that much better. I use both a lot, and worth noting the "trending now" on TV programmes is a nice to have
Shame it's not compatible with Plex server on Nvidia sheild.
Does this support HD channels?

Hey! I love the media remote. It's quite basic and probably overpriced but it's so much easier to use than the Xbox one controller
Just got one from ebay for £7 . Always wanted to know how to get my tv through the xbox as freeview is built into tv's . Thanks
Ditch virgin yes! Use the moviehd app (link on facebook) cast to your xbox one media app. With help off the local cast app. Cash saved. Sorry cant post links bout this

Surely that involves stealing content rather than paying your own way though? Dodgy illegal copyright theft.
I bought one when last on offer. Connected it, tuned it in. Couldn't get guide to work no matter what. Put it back in the box.

The quality is sometimes unreliable and there are a lot of sought after channels missing, and it's a bit of a pain that even when you've signed up it frequently forgets that it's already logged in, but the fact that it's free combined with the over-the-internet provision makes TVPlayer app on Xbox One the best option for me.

My aerial signal is worthless (and my TV has freeview capability built in anyway if it did work), but over the internet TV provision should be a no brainer these days IMO. iPlayer app is good for live streaming BBC but can't think of any other good non-web providers.
PrinceRules642 h, 27 m ago

...

Totally agree - why can't there be an official Freeview app?
These are pointless, m$ failed to deliver pvr services, live to well similar to the hdmi pass through what's the point as most tv's have DVb built in or most folk use satellites?

I got one last time it was £5, used it once as I thought I could record or watch tv outside my network... nope.

I thought it was? Listed under Hauppage on the site. Was thinking the same for my shield. plex.tv/fea…vr/
