Yes they say they may charge for underbody removal, and yes for smaller amounts you can get oil cheaper (possibly)

"Due to the increased complexity involved with the removal of under-trays in certain vehicles, it may be necessary to make a small additional charge of between £5 to £10 for their removal. If necessary, this will be discussed and agreed with you in advance of your oil and filter change being carried out."

but my bmw 3 series 2.5 which needed 7 litres of Castrol Edge 5w30 there is no way I could get the oil, filter cheaper. I watched them take it out of the castrol drum measured up, the engine was already warm and they raised it from the ramps and drained from the sump (not sucked from the filler as some report) and I wasnt charged for under tray removal

I caught them out by marking the oil filter and they had not changed it. Would never use them again.
I did the same to mine, they definitely did change mine guess its down to individual
did you report them to the police and trading standards ?
thats fraud after all and a criminal offence.

yup obtaining money by deception = criminal offence = police matter
you dont have to complain to trading standards about a consumer issue, though they may prefer you do, its not a 999 call but still a matter to be reported.

"It is a criminal offence to charge for work which has not been carried out"
well there you go, I wasnt going to do it, incase they pulled the offer due to non google+ signups and if they checked you actually had a linked account

but the code is there

Civil matter due to it being a company and you would never prove which employee carried out the work. I'm pretty sure the police would advise you to go to trading standards.
hot, they do my 1series every 6k.
I have used National for many years and I have never had any problems.
they have a 10% off oil on their site, this 20% is a googleplus special

they didnt offer anything else with mine, other than saying some one has nicked your chrome valve cap (which i knew before I went) and gave me free rubber one as a temp replacement. they checked all the tyre pressures too (again i had already done this before going)
so i cant say a bad word against them, but i understand each one will /may vary

mm previous posted deleted theirs.

not sure why the cold though

CAN YOU POST A CHEAPER DEAL ?
Edited by: "mrwhitelabel" 19th Feb 2012
Probably a really daft question, but my car's (a renault) warning me to 'change oil soon'. If these guys change the oil will they also reset the message or would that have to be done by the dealer?

Daft Q I know, but I think last time I took it to a Renault specialist, but this sounds like a good deal.

you can probably reset yourself check google

Just beware with National i paid for fully synthetic and saw em filling with normal oil, threw a right fit at em

not a silly question.
it depends,
they didnt know how to reset my bmw (luckily i did - a 2 min job and no special tools needed although i have obc tools too)
back a quick google for your car model and something like
renault *****insert car model*** oil service indicator reset
and see if anything comes up

EDIT

did it myself

see if yours is here
autodiagnos.com/sit…pdf
Wouldn't trust them for now might be a bargain but future repairs of the engine might be a lot higher
Almost cheaper than doing it yourself. Just make sure you take your motor in warmed up already so more of the old oil drains out. Not sure re most new cars nowadays but Bimmer's should be topped up warm anyway. At my local national you sit in glass lined office and can watch them work.

On my last visit my number plate finally fell off after being cracked by a car rolling back on a hill start - they sorted it for nowt.

def was for me, unless you know where I can get 7 litres + a filter for less than that ?

they had the glass box thing for my visit too, and def essential to take it in warm as they just do a straight oil drop and wont warm it up before hand,
We're sorry, but we are unable to find your vehicle details. Our technicians would be happy to provide details of the correct oil for your vehicle over the phone. Please call your nearest centre on 0800 432 0460 for an instant quote.

Oh well, I'll call them up in the morning for a quote & persuade them the website is not working for me with the code. Fingers cross.
Only valid for online bookings as you get 2 discounts. Are you sure you entered it properly ? Does the askmid site recognise it?

It used to work before but it seems that National does not recognise my reg plate anymore. Mind you still have the same car for years. It's a R reg plate. Not much I can do since the site is asking for my reg plate to determine what oil type but I already know this myself so will try to ring up to book + advise both discount codes at same time. Silly you ask me since my car is a daily driver so will call up to advise inconvenience of the website.
Perfect timing - their prices had increased recently due to the booking taking into account that my car takes 7 litres!
This offer brings it back down again.

Thanks to OP!
I've used them many times and it's only been a good experience. As OP states, it's hard to do it cheaper yourself, and they seem slightly more competent than Kwik Fit. Also it's nice to have the option to book in an appointment as opposed to first come first serve. If you don't trust them, watch them do the work.

They wanted to charge me something like £30 to reset my V Reg Passat... you can imagine what I said. If you can't find a free way to do it through Google you can usually buy tools on eBay for less than what they were asking
Thanks, booked mine and ordered a couple of tyres I needed as well. A really easy site to get prices and book an appointment. Hope the actual appointment is as pain free as the ordering was.
Knowing national they will fill your engine with vegetable oil
Dont know why this is almost a week old and its not a tad hotter. The Castrol edge oil they using would be hard to find for total i was quoted with expense of new oil filter. And thats was not including 20% off i just found out about.heat added As it is ive went the diy root but my savings are not alot now if 20% applies

I have a golf gttdi 1.9 pd130
1 OCEDGE1 Castrol Edge 5W30 Full Synthetic (includes oil filter) -£4.10 £30.75 £6.15 £36.90
Sub-total: £30.75
VAT: £6.15
Total: £36.90
1 GPLUS1OF 20% off an oil and filter change -£7.38
Total after discounts: £29.52

Woot Woot certainly worth a tweet and alot more heat. This deal cannot be beat unless you find a price match. Look up the lowest price avalible for 5l of Castrol Edge which is sold in 4l containers +1 litre bottles alone. It was almost 200 degree for 4l at £25 that no one could find. I would not be put off by stories and negative remarks about National and scaremongering of whither they are using castrol edge for sure. They will be and would not be business sense for them to decieve and break the law.Business suicide?. There is alot of cinical and negative coments on this site some worth taking note of.Just dont be like a sheep and only follow the heat. Mooooooooooving on

was i seeing things when they tried to put normal stuff in mine then ,then drained it out and refilled with edge ?

just be careful folks and watch when they do it
Booked but will watch as mine takes 5/30 oil. Booked a flush as well so will watch that too!
That's an awesome find. I was just looking into doing my own oil, filter and flush would have cost me £65 plus the faff of having to do it but came out at £39 with this discount and I don't have to get my hands dirtyso well pleased!

Heat added!
The booking was fine but the experience was not for my oil and tyre change I booked.
I had to change the tyres I ordered as the website got it wrong. Then they didn't call back to to take the additional fee which they said they would. I then had delays before i could got to my appointment as they took the extra money and changed the paperwork. Turned up at garage to find the wrong paperwork had been sent. Had to ring up website redo the paperwork and rebook appointment as i could not waste any further time. Rang to confirm later in week and found they had the tyre details wrong yet again. Went today and then had long wait as it was busy when i turned up. Then came back to this thread and realised I had somehow missed the 10% off tyres code. Aaarg!
Seven phonecalls, two payments, two trips to garage.
All over now, and never using them again. Website inaccurate, garage staff seemed good, website staff/service utter crap,
