Okocim is one of the best imported Polish beers available in the UK that i have tasted. It is strong at 5.5% ABV and has a good flavour (i think because it uses an unusual yeast for polish beer). Very refreshing and beats Stella or any other 'under license' UK brewed strong continental lager hands down. Reduced from 1.29 i think.

I snapped up quite a few bottles as i've only ever seen this beer at around 1.50 before.

It is far too late and I have far too much to drink, but i swear that the offer was on Polar Bear!

Better than Stella - high praise indeed!

St. Etienne lager fom Aldi is rebadged Belgian Stella.

It's much better than stella! Prefer this even over budvar, bit sweeter and stronger! :w00t:

thanks! that's a great value and a great beer... too bad I don't know where the nearest ALDI is :?

Good beer, good deal, hot from me

Liking the different suggestions!

MOCNE - i have looked for but never seen to purchase. Isn't it 9% or something? Sounds excellent.

And is that a polish cherry beer above? Only tried the belgian krieks before. How does this compare?

Now brewed by Heineken and not as sweet as it used to be - but Corgon from Slovakia is the one for me:

Oh, come on! Surely you know that Stella is cheap mass produced muck on a par with Skol lager. The Belgians laugh at the ridiculous marketing here in the UK trying to position it as a premium lager when it is anything but.

I would have a hard time believing that any cheapo lager from Aldi or Lidl could be any worse than Stella.

dzika wisnia rules! ha ha ha!
good find!

I agree but Stella you get in Belgium is different to the stuff you get over here as it is not brewed under licence (i.e. lots of additives to make up for the fact the core ingredients are different).

Tyskie most known Polish beer in the world. Last week 5 for 5 in Tesco :-D:-D:-D ...after 5 you should know why its most famous :w00t::w00t:

I would say that Zywiec and Okocim are better known. That is what you would find in restaurants. Tyskie seems to be more popular with Polish workers in the UK.

It's rubbish wherever you go to be honest. Ask a Belgian. I used to live in Belgium and Stella/Jupiler are Belgium's equivalent of Bud(weiser).

so who makes aldis st etienne? anyone know

No Mocne is 7% I tried it for the first time yesterday and it was wonderful, it's a real mans drink, plenty of body and go's down as smooth as silk. That's why I'm on here I googled it because it was so refreshing, to find a real good beer.
I only bought one can to taste, as soon as this snow go's I'm buying a lot more, It's the best pint I have tasted in a very long while.
It reminds me of a drink I had at a hospitality sweet, all I knew was that it was a Belgian beer, and ever since that day I have never found it again, every time I try a Belgian beer, I am met with disappointment.
If only I had found this A lot earlier in life
