Got some of this last night. Was the passion fruit and apple one. 50p. Sainsbury's local. Saw it tonight in ASDA, still at full price of £1.75!

Great deal....but what's wrong with apple flavor cider.

Original Poster

That's the one I wanted but that was still at full price. Still there a quality cider and for some pence you can't go wrong!

Didn't think alcohol could be sold with more than a third reduction by law now?

Original Poster

I buy it and drink it, I'll let Sainsbury's worry about the law hehe

OP, is that the store near the Shell garage that used to be a pub?

Which is a third of the original price, so a 2 thirds reduction.

My bad, I somehow read third of original price lol

Is this national? Was in Sainsbury's this evening and didn't spot it.

It definitely isn't. Local's tend to have a high turnover of items - where an item can sit in a big store for days selling 1 or 2 that space is at a premium in Locals so lines which don't sell (at a store specific level) get sold off to create space to try something else. As a general rule "sale" SELs mean store specific deals.

Was in Chester Le Street store last night, I say was as they didn't last long on the shelf, but definitely not an isolated deal, could be specific to the local stores though

71p is 1/3rd of the original price (original price is £2.15) - might be how they can reduce to 75p without issue.

Hot if nationwide

I think folk keep missing the point here, the poster was referencing a reduction of one third, not a reduction to one third of the regular price, ie a 2/3rd reduction....

Heat added!

This stuff is alright i prefer the passion fruit one. Bargain at this price

Was given a load of this for free in a pub earlier in the year as part of their marketing launch. I found it to be almost too sweet, that was after a number of bottles though.....

£2 each / 3 for £5 in Lancaster.

I think the only limits on alcohol pricing in England and Wales are following the formula that it should not be sold below the cost of duty plus vat.

75p for this product is still about 30p above duty plus vat which just goes to show how effective that legislation is.

Just got the last 8 passion fruit ones in my local.
