For anyone wondering about cheaper torches offering incredible lumen claims, OLIGHT are a company who have been making decent torches using decent LED technology for years. Their torches generally use good quality components, will stand up to regular use and will usually work when you want them to whether that's to walk the dog, go camping or check a map half way up a mountain. Generally speaking, the generic Chinese brands offering torches for a few pounds and claiming 2000 lumens on Amazon will be cheap rubbish and you'll be lucky if you get a tiny fraction of the brightness claimed.

Zoomable means it will not be good. My olight torch gets used daily for 4 yeard now, dropped many times and still works perfect. Even took it swimming in salty water. I recommend going on reddit r/flashlight for more info.

I'm no expert on torches so feel free to educate me. 180 lm doesn't seem much when there are some 2000 lm torches at similar prices.

Of course I expect some overstatement or under lab conditions type arguments.

The only thing someone else advised was to get a cree led
Most of the cheap Chinese ones downright lie about the lumens, olight are an excellent company

Great brand, great quality reliable and trustworthy flashlights. Output perfectly adequate for most of the tasks shown in the advert. Heat added.:)

... and for those of you wondering.

'There is no support for any Lithium-Ion batteries. Therefore, please don’t put a 10440 3.6 volt Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery in this light, it will likely fry it!'

Does anyone know how this switches on and off? (edited)
There’s a tail switch on this one, you can cycle through 3 brightness levels

I bought a wuben, 1200 lumen, various promotions available just now, with 10 and 5 percent off the 29.99. so around £26? It's built like a tank, incredibly bright even on lower power outputs with very decent battery life. I use it walking the dog mostly.

I have more products from them than is socially acceptable, great company
Me too. Been very impressed with my i3T in dessert tan. Couldn’t resist their Sale this year.

I’ve used one of these torches almost daily for 3 years+ now working as an electrician. It’s great!! Been dropped many times and still going strong.

Best torches I've used. I just got the little tiny keyring torch to the collection. Wow . Shocked how good they are. I will say its not the cheapest thing to buy and I dont buy from main website without a sale being on.

Careful with the lumens arms race. I bought the 3000 lumen from costco, and it's too bright for household use

Thanks for the updates on the quality of this torch. Like I said I'm no expert so it's good to see others vouching for the make.

I wonder if you tube has some vids of actual usage. I will look later
As a general rule I would say 150 lumens is plenty for lighting up your path for an outdoor walk, this also has a low mode which should be good for most indoor tasks like looking behind the telly or under the bed.

    Here’s a quick
, he shows a demonstration at around 4 min mark, sadly no indoor though.

What sort of lifespan would you get from a standard alkaline? i.e. would you have to run a rechargable in order to make this run for more than 5mins?
...a quick google and I'll answer my own question (sorry, was being lazy!)

    • Output: 180Lumens
    • Run Time: 21 Minutes
    • Percentage of Total Output: 100%
    • Output: 5 Lumens
    • Run Time: 16 Hours
    • Percentage of Total Output: 3%

Are there any decent rechargeable torches with inbuilt batteries ?
