Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin 70cl £9.65 @ Aldi

Found 22nd Apr 2013
Award winning bottle of £10 gin from Aldi beat some of the world's most highly-regarded spirits which cost up to five times as much in a blind taste test.

Ripe, citrus aroma with rounded spice and a touch of juniper. Clear, light, crisp complex flavour.

    nice mixer with ...erm.. Gin
Sounds good, will pick some up this weekend to try out

    Cromwell was a traitor
    ^ To whom?
Nice gin, but the Cromwell one is only 50 cl. That pic is the other, cheaper, Aldi gin. Similar price but 70 cl and not dissimilar to Gordons. The Cromwell one is much heavier on the juniper so may not suit everyone.

That's what I figured. Just like the Lidl vodka that's meant to be very good in taste tests, it's £9.95 (ish) for 50cl. So in the end, you're probably better off with a litre of Russian Standard on offer, if you can't tell the difference
I went into Aldi in Moreton, Wirral yesterday to get my husband a bottle of this Gin and was told the one 70cl advertised in Saturdays Mail as being 9/10 by Jilly Goolden, is now only 50cl. and only 20p difference in price. Surely this is a rip-off. On the label 70cl was crossed out and 50cl added. Is this against trade descriptions or what?
No idea abot the labelling, but I'm guessing the Mail is just shoddy reporting? The Oliver Cromwell gin has been 50 cl for as long as I've been buying it. Wrong picture, wrong bottle size in the description. Can't blame Aldi for that.
