waste of money, would rather buy the samsung s20 series with space zoom

In what way is a £900 smartphone comparable to a fifty quid pair of binoculars?

You'll see him with the same binoculars staring at you. That's a match made in heaven.

I got these from Amazon Germany for £45 delivered. They're a good set of bins.
This is a great price direct though, especially with cashback!
Topcashback for New Customers is 14.85% and 11.55% for Existing Customers. Quidco is 9%.
Cashback should pay out with the 10% voucher, as it's listed on both cashback sites.
Great for checking out the last Supermoon of the year tonight and tomorrow night, the so-called "Flower Moon".

A timely post OP, I have been toying with getting a pair of binoculars and have been looking for the last couple of days so its heat from me and ordered. Thank you
Ordered and heat added
Thanks for this , I ordered a different magnification but the 10% applies to all binoculars on their site
Great bins, got them after someone posted on HDUK last a couple of months back. For £55 you cannot go wrong with these.

Was about to post this. Never had a pair of binoculars, always wanted some. 14.4% Quidco too today for new customers.
Great reviews on Amazon with this one being my favourite:

"My wife wanted a breast enhancement operation. I bought her these and a mirror. Saved myself £4000."
Code not working, says enter valid code
code works for me. Make sure you put O instead of zero. Which is better 10x50 Zoom DPS I or 8-16x40 Zoom DPS I for a few quid more? Thx
Something i hadn't thought to get before, wen't for the slightly smaller 8 x 40. (cheap!)

Ta!
Nothing more perfect of a purchase right now while we're in lockdown, can recreate rear window.
Brace yourself for stupid comments about lockdown.
Heat from me
These are good binoculars, and great value. I've had a pair for a few years. 10x50 are very usable, hand holdable but enough magnification to really make a difference. They're great for widefield views of the night sky.If you want a really steady view, the little boss at the front of the centre pivot unscrews to reveal a thread for a tripod L mount.
Exactly what does 10x refer to? 10x of what focal length to begin with?

Personally, I'd deffo go for these. Having sold binoculars in a previous life, I can tell you that the image is much dimmer though a 'zoom' pair of binoculars, and more lens elements in the zoom pair mean the image is not as crisp.

The zoom pair you are looking at also have a smaller objective lens (the lens at the front) 40, as opposed to 50mm which will also reduce the filed of view, and make the image darker.

Another point to bare in mind is that the more you are 'zoomed in' the harder it will be to hold the binoculars steady. It is generally accepted that 8x or 10x magnification is about right for most people, at 16x you'd have to be sure that you are rock steady (no tremors in your hand at all) or use a tripod. for me a non zoom wins out every time.

I have a camera tripod, can you recommend a good bracket?
Had one and returned to amazon, plastic cheap Chinese binoculars. If you are looking really good binoculars but have no money for Fujicon 10x50 buy William Optics 10x50 ED model miles away better that that olympus which is a wasting of money...

The Chinese made William Optics ED are also very heavy and have individual eyepiece focusing which makes them a more specialised intsrument. FWIW a similar 7x magnification version of that binocular is available for just over a ton from Astroboot atm.

you've answered my question. would rather not buy tat from that place. I've become a far more conscious purchaser in the last two months and I've found I'm no worse off having either a) just not bought an item from a questionable source or b) spent more but received better product.

Each to their own however

I got these from Amazon Germany a few weeks ago and am pleased with the result for the money. Sure, I would have really liked a pair of Image Stabilising binoculars as these are much easier to use, but that would have cost somewhere around £700-£1000 more. Horses for courses - at the price point these are good binoculars.

Williams Optics 10x50 ED cost six times as much as the Olympus DPS 1.

I have half a dozen different pairs of binoculars of different sizes up to 25x100 Helios Stellar. The Olympus ones are well made general use bins that are excellent value for money.
Are these good for seeing planets

I can see the Earth with mine you would see the others but with not much detail at 10x magnification. The moon would look pretty good.
