Very true, not the best review when compared to cameras over twice the price.

I posted this as for those looking to spend less than £100 on a camera, including leather case and 8gb memory card, this deal is hard to beat.

If you can get it for £85 it's pretty good (couple of reviews: ]cameras.co.uk and ]trustedreviews.com), but the similarly specced Canon PowerShot A1100 IS is a better camera, and as it's currently available for ]£99 at Amazon, probably the best for under £100.

If the Canon went to 24mm instead of 35mm I would have gone that way.

Personally I prefer the wider end on a walk around camera, depending on where I am and what I'm shooting, if I'm only carrying one lens I often use my 24-105mm over my 28-300mm, losing heaps at the long end, just for a slightly wider perspective.

There is a huge difference in perspective from 24mm to 35mm.

The Canon noise levels are a bit higher, but wins hands down in most other departments, especially having proper image stablization, very handy with such slow lenses. Just a pity they didn't wack a wider lens on it.
