This camera has amazing reviews, takes incredible photos and with a 14-150mm mk2 lens, this really is a good deal and in terms of looks its pretty damn sexy!

It's a tad worrying that anyone would find a camera "sexy". I think that's enough to put me off!

There once was a time when all cameras looked like this !
and didnt even need batteries, but you needed a brain to use one,
progress is very subjective

You still need skill and more importantly a good eye to take interesting photos so not that much has changed.

Indeed a very handsome camera.

Anyone can take a picture but very few can take a photograph.

Why is there so much bitterness on this thread? Let people take photos, not all of them are art. Jeez

Hobbyist photographers are like that, and always have been. In the past they would have made the same comments about black and white v colour, or medium format v 35mm film.
I think the truth is many of them are fetishistic about the kit, but have little creativity at all.

So they argue that their efforts are superior because the equipment they use is better - so a dull photograph taken with a high quality camera, is better than a dull photograph taken with a cheap one or a phone. But you are right, people should just enjoy what they enjoy.

Hey, I have a great camera and take very good pictures, pity none of them are photographs.

Like all hobbies and professions, there are various levels of success. I can bake a cake but Mary Berry will never judge any of them.

A photograph is an image from a camera, everyone that use a camera takes photographs. It doesn't need to be any good or have any artistic merit to be a photograph. It's a good hobby though, and one that people can enjoy regardless of skill or equipment.

My view is - if you take a lot of pictures/photographs, then some of them will be good.
Trouble is, when I get back from hols, I have something in the region of over 1,000 images to sort thru - to find the good ones !

Maybe take two types of shot; snapshots for holiday memories and photographs where you set out to achieve a specific aim / effect.

Unfortunately nowadays it's all about how good your post processing skills are.

Body only is £449 plus special offer for the lens at SRS at £349 so total at best is normally £800 so this saves you £100.00. The Saving is £200.00 compared to the price of the lens elsewhere so this is a good deal !

Don't fully agree. I think it's great what can be done post taking of shot but I think a lot of the greatest ever shots have been down to luck(right place right time) look at the most memorable war photos seen, maj were not staged

Although, in the old days in darkrooms, a lot of post processing went on there too.

If you want to compromise with that kind of zoom on a micro 4/3 sensor with F4-5.6 .... Then good for you

Great camera but I personally found this jessops.com/onl…tml to be a better deal. £299 after cashback from Panasonic.

brainscan

There are trade off's in every camera system, everyone has different style and at the end of the day some people will get better results on this than a6000.
For example, this has a touch screen AND a viewfinder and on the a6000 you have to dig into the menu just to change the focus point.

Will this camera allow me to take some pictures which I can then show to my family, or do the pictures need to be submitted to the Royal Photographic Society first for critique and assessment?

Yeah, its the lens that makes this deal a good deal.

My mistake, I checked on camerapricebuster, and looked across the wrong line! Confusingly the older version is up for 489.... The newer version is weatherproofed and different optical design. Not certain if it is any 'better'.

Buy a 300£ DSLR, use it on full auto on continuous- shoot setting with a 128gb memory card and some zoom lens. Do like Rambo, shoot from the hip. Realise pictures arent as good as the ones took wth your phone. Sell DSLR and buy a newer model phone with double megapixel count. Use '#24MP' on all your posts on all your social media uploads, because everyone needs to know. Lose all your digital media including photos at least once a decade when you get hacked or cloud subscription ends or server/ external HDD fails. See this thead and like it because of the vintage design of the said Olympus camera. Buy yourself a 5£ vintage looking phone case that looks like the camera above. Get chuffed to bits with bargain of the century.
