Seems a really good deal for a x 5 optical zoom 12MP digital camera. The camera was only released in February this year and has been at the higher price up until this week. Offer due to end shortly.

Hmmm, Jessops 'exclusive' model...

I think you are better off with a Fuji 100 for the same price or for £124 refurb from Fuji site.

Better wide angle (28 - 140mm), better low light performance and fullsize SD card.

I'm tempted but is it any good???

Why couldn't they do this with the IXUS 100?

If you look on the Japanese Olympus site you can see which model this is. The X series are just renamed FE series cameras not really a Jessops exclusive.

Unless you really need 12MP (how big are you planning to print you pictures?) I'd go for one of the older model Panasonic Lumix TZ cameras which should be a similar price.

Don't fall for the half price on the RRP as it was the same price here but currently out of stock :

Thanks Meco...

To be honest I can't see why it's retailing at £140 let alone £280. I desperately need a decent camera, I was tempted to buy the sony but having compared it to other sonys, its low spec. I'm really confused now but I do not want to spend over £150. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that ... I'll spend a couple of hours tomorrow reading up to see what is best. I fly out Saturday so only a couple of days left to buy. Cheers dude.

If you go Sony you'll be locked into Memory Stick at high prices. Go for something with an SD card - now pretty much universal and cheap. My personal preference based on experience would be Panasonic (excellent build and picture quality if a little more expensive) or Casio (good value and also good performance).

Don't get carried away with pixel count - 8Mp is more than enough and quality can actually deteriorate at high count in very small cameras.

Besford ... thanks for the advice too, luckily I already have a 16gb pro duo memory stick which should do the trick (I used this in my previous sony cybershot camera). I'll search for a cheap panasonic and see what they are going for ... (the hunt continues) Thanks again

You should be able to find a very decent 'old model' for £99 or less. The FS3 is one model which comes to mind. It doesn't offer extremes of spec, just a decent camera which will do what most people want very well and probably for a long time too. Don't dismiss Casio either.
