This was reduced today. Use code CQ118AF05 to bring it down further to £949.

This is the full 6gb gtx 1060 and the 120hz gsync screen makes this a great deal.

Ah, my bad. Was convinced it was the 1050.

That's a 1050

Any sub 1000 lappy with a 1060 is a pretty good deal given that we tend to pay over the odds in this country. Having a 120hz gsync monitor is a nice bonus as well

Tempted, hot too!

Pretty sure this is the Maxq GTX 1060.
Still an excellent card for 1080p gaming.

Not a MaxQ according to the specs. So this is a nice machine.
However, unless you are a casual player, you almost certainly have to replace the hard drive with an SD or use an external SD if you play a lot of games. Even at 7200 rpm and assuming that the drive is regularly defragmented, iit gets very tedious waiting for some games to load up. Street Fighter V for example would take minutes to start up then at least another minute or so at least to start the game itself. That adds at least another 80 pounds+

What specs suggest it's not the Max-Q version?
Can't see the clock speeds anywhere, I am on the their mobile web page 'tho.

This is Max-Q. You can OC the GPU though - just no voltage or power limit controls. This doesn't bother me personally. Especially with the rest of the spec. It has thunderbolt too.

I'm pretty sure all the omens have slots for both a Sata and an m.2 so it's not an either or. I have one of the Omens that was released earlier in the year. That came with a 128gig SSD bootdrive and a 1 terra mechanical drive. Well worth checking because the SSD makes a huge difference. Everything is a lot snappier and, of course, it boots a hell of a lot faster.

Damn that is very hot. I am going to try and wait patiently for black friday or christmas deals. Very tempted by this!

I had to find another website to see the actual GPU spec and you are right this is a MaxQ GPU. Here's the thing though. The advantage of MaxQ is meant to be slimmer devices and better efficiency. However, according to the review I have just read, this isn't really that much slimmer than my 1060 laptop and in terms of battery life it's about the same. So all you are really getting is around a 10% drop in performance.
Bottom line, if you can find a normal 1060 laptop at a similar price then buy that one. If not, then this is still a nice machine. But don't forget to by an SSD drive whether it's a M.2 or SATA.
Personally I bought a M.2 as a boot drive, and a "decent" FireCuda 1TB hybrid drive as my main storage.

Tempted to buy this. You can always return it if a better deal comes up during Black Friday week.

Heat I was waiting on a good deal on this, now looking for a cheap 128GB SSD to complement this if anybody has any suggestion!

I guess it's best to hold off for another 2 days, return policy is 14 days. So if you buy it now and something cheaper pop up on Black Friday and just return the HP laptop.

Where is your information from? This is the 120hz g-sync panel, not the base model. I'm looking at it now and it is far nicer than I even thought it would be.

I own it
Still a terrible screen infront of high end gaming
Its brightness is terrible

I never seem to need the brightness at 100% on mine. Definitely bright enough for me. Of course, most panels could do with a few more nits. I'm happy.
