I bought a couple of these from Currys/Dixons 18 months ago at £9.99 - they are very low profile and simple to mount. Just make sure you have a long, thin screwdriver to reach from underneath to put the security screw in...

Are these strong enough to take a couple of shackles for the missus?

ROFL!

How are these for getting cables in the back, i.e. room for the plug and wire to come out, an inch like the depth of an hdmi plug or scart plug. My feeling when I looked is they are close to the wall and may struggle with cables, I know you put the cables in prior to hanging the tv.

Heat still added minds......

anyone know if I could use this to screw my Acer Aspire Revo onto the back of my 40" TV please?

None. There is zero room. The rear panel screws onto the wall using two screws one above the other. The front panel then drops into small hangers from the top and a security screw from underneath holds it in place.

If your connectors are horizontal then you are going to have to be careful. Bottom entry will be OK.
