Can someone explain why the SN850X always seems to be cheaper than the original SN850? I thought the X was slightly faster

There are other more premium and faster drives coming soon.

Samsung and WD (big manufacturers of their own drives) use their own inhouse parts and have good custom controllers. The 990 Pro especially. Makes them very good with price to performance.

Most companies use off the shelf parts and have to share similar designs.

Anyone have issues removing an existing nvme from a ps5? I’ve swapped out a 1tb for a 2tb and the 1tb I took out shows as write protected and won’t re-format?

Got the non heat sink version from WD for about £150 last week since my motherboard already has heat sinks for the drives. Quidco cash back too

It's still available direct from WD for £149.99

    Western Digital

Note,I attempted to buy and it was added to cart at full price. Contacted WD CS, and they say it is a website issue and should be resolved by EOD.

OCUK have it for same price but with postage to add on top - link OCUK (edited)
