People on this site don't appreciate decent MTB bikes no point posing them really,

Well if it helps someone...

True! when ever a decent bike appears it's always slagged off in the masses, i was thinking about posting my bike i just purchased just to see how cold it goes for a laugh.

It might go hot. Voting and all.

If you spend more time in your car than on your bike then don't buy it.

If, however you spend more time on your bike than in your car then why shouldn't it be worth more than your car?

My stereo is worth more than my car. (But my neighbour's numberplate is also worth more than my car.)

I'm getting the impression you have toe clips and everything.

Agreed, someone will post a link to a tesco bike soon and tell us how there isn't any difference

Hot by the way

I'm gonna ask 'cos I'm Bike Ignorant (my OH bought mine and I only ever use it in Summer on the canal paths).

But what's wrong with a Tesco bike?

For riding on canal paths at a leisurely pace they are fine, but it you intend to through it down a mountain side or down a single track it will brake within 10 minutes.

Ok appreciate that. My OH told me it was new but I suspect it was bought from the market as the seat smells a bit funky.

I also had to change the seat after a week because it was like a razor blade. Ooof my cheeks were mashed after 2 hours.

It says 'Specialized' on the frame lol.

Specialized make good bikes to be honest it's not a cheap none namer one, as for the seat it's quite common to get this if you don't ride often, plus if you were sat on it for 2 hours even a decent seat would do this.

That seat was lethal I tell you. It was very narrow. I am sure whoever designed it was a sadist. I now have a 'comfort' seat. It is wide and I can take go on a frolic without chafing.

lol. It wasn't well expressed. I just don't see the significance of something costing more than your car; why shouldn't it?

No it was well written. I got confuddled with the spin dryer going off in the next room and my mind started to wonder about how noisy they were. I then saw spokes turning around and around in my mind. When I snapped out of it I didn't have an answer to your question. Sorry.

As for the significance? I don't know if there was one. I just saw the price and then the first thing that crossed my mind was my car is worth less.

If anything, it has highlighted the fact that I probably need to change my car.

"You could get a car for that" is usually the first negative comment posted whenever an expensive bike is listed. It's odd that it's never posted when there's a cheap holiday or any other item costing more than a few hundred pounds.

I don't own an expensive bike either (a mid-price Trek hybrid is more than good enough for the cycling I do - mostly on towpaths like you) but I don't resent those who spend every weekend hurtling up and down mountains on theirs. I've bought expensive equipment for my hobbies in the past (I own a sailing dinghy, a very nice mountain tent - neither of which get as much use as they once did, but I've long since had my money's worth out of both - and a very nice stereo which still gets plenty of use).

I'm sure of you do ride down the mountainside or a single track it will 'brake', probably when you engage the brakes, of which there will probably be two, to ensure you stop.

However the Tesco bike will 'break' if you abuse it, like if you ride it down a mountainside, rather than just ambling along a canal path for which it bike is probably more suited to.

I have too much time on my hands!

Ok i see what i done! but do you see your mistake? if you are going to pull people up on their grammar i would make sure your sentence made sense before posting it!

I hate people that think blogs are some king of English exam, if you look back there are loads of mistakes in this thread, and it easily happens! as you can see by your comment.

How many times did you put that through the spell checker

Obviously this chap has nothing better to do with his time than pull people up on silly mistakes. I really don't care if people cant spell or their grammar is wrong it doesn't mean your any less of a person than they are!

After all some of the richest men in the world have problems with their spelling, look at Richard Branson he can barely spell his own name.

I say if you haven't got anything positive to say, don't say anything at all.
