I would urge people to check out Megabus first. megabus.co.uk . I picked up a London Cardiff return for £1 each way plus 50p booking fee.

I don't think I've ever been on one where the plugs actually worked.

fares have always been from £4 with national express (or less), it all depends on how far in advance you book. If you have to go somewhere soon though try mixing megabus with national express. I have to go to Edinburgh in 2 weeks and managed today to book national express on the way there (9 hours) and megatrain on way back (4 hours) for £17 return.

fantastic deal. Got my return to Canterbury for £8 (=£1 booking fee)

Only really use coaches for trips London > Amsterdam these days.

Just had a look and quite a few dates have £5 each way - problem being they are all in really awkward times - eg travelling during the day rather than night, which means you basically miss out on a whole day, unless you go the day before.
